Tara, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been a lurker on this thread since almost the beginning and been appreciating the company through ttc even though I haven't posted anything. I've been cheering for you!
I'm a fellow PCOS sufferer, and in the time I've been following this thread suffered 2 m/cs and finally, on Jan 10, we conceived a sticky girl-bean! Due Oct 3. I thought it might be helpful to share what I've done.
First, I got "lucky" and was diagnosed with PCOS over 10 years ago (I'm 39 now). So I had a lot of time to get that under reasonable control before ttc. (It was a lot harder for me to find a man than to ovulate...) I take Metformin 500 mg x 4 per day, which is a LOT. Docs are always surprised when I tell them my dosage, but I worked with a regular endocrinologist (not an RE) to figure out the right dosage. I also get weekly acupuncture. The two approaches together have been what have gotten my body ovulating regularly. It also took several months of the regular regime to get there.
I also totally overhauled my diet -- no carbs, except whole fruit and veggies. Plenty of fat (bacon! butter!), particularly high quality organic fat.
I was super lucky when we conceived this bean that I was just getting a hormone panel back for my new GP. I had really low progesterone, and she retook my progesterone levels after I got a positive test -- they were still really low. She put me on a topical progesterone cream, and I am convinced that is what provided the glue for this little one.
I was also on baby asprin and cod liver oil.
When we were ttc, I read a very helpful book, "Making Babies" by Sami David and Jill Blakeway. One is a normal doc and one is an oriental medicine doc, and they review all of the different reasons women have a hard time ttc from both eastern and western perspectives. There is a lot of info on much milder (but often more effective!) interventions available for different infertility types, including PCOS, and a really thoughtful discussion of when to move to more aggressive interventions.
Given that you are able to conceive just fine when you ovulate, do either IUI or IVF even make sense? It is getting your beans to stick that is the hard part -- it sounds like getting the right folate, etc., is the right way to go. Not to mention cheaper!!!!
I also wonder if taking a few cycles to work on continuing to control the underlying PCOS might make sense? It causes problems with ovulation, for sure, but it also disrupts other hormonal dances too that might matter just as much in the long run.
Anyway, know that you have a whole cheering section you don't know about! I can't wait until you are on your way with a baby that is going to stick around for you and dh to love! Baby dust!!!

Hi Yikes/Yay! So nice to meet you :) I'm so happy you finally got your little miracle. To be honest...I've done everything you have lol.
-1500 mg metformin/day
-Acupuncture
-Eating Paleo (gotta love bacon!)
-Was on progesterone suppositories this round
-I'm on baby aspirin..havent tried the cod liver oil yet
I've even taken time to get my cycles under control but no matter how in balance my hormonal bloodwork is...it's still hard to OV on my own. They are starting to wonder if it's a genetic issue involved as well. The MTHFR causes me to not absorb folic acid which can make it hard for my eggs to develop properly leading to abnormal periods. So I'm still missing something from my 'cocktail' to get pregnant and stay pregnant. The only reason we jumped ahead a couple steps and tried an IUI is because we were fed up with beating around the bush. It worked...it just didnt stick. Unfortunately, I was on the wrong folic acid supplement still and finally got it switched. Right now, we're taking time off to go deeper into what's going on besides the pcos. My karyotype bloodwork will be back sometime next week and we'll go from there.
@proudmommy- LOL! You do what I do...wake up and start poking! LOL

So last Saturday I got a BFP at 14 dpo and I wanted to be excited, but I was very scared that I was going to miscarry like I did with my last pregnancy in February... So I kept testing, and it seemed like everything was going ok. I started spotting on Saturday, which made me nervous, but last night that turned into full on bleeding with bad cramps. :(
I have a dr. appointment this afternoon to confirm that I've miscarried.. This just sucks so much.
Any advice ladies on where to go from here? Doesn't seem like I have trouble getting pregnant.. Just seems like staying that way is a problem.
I just don't even know what to do... :(

@staggart- I'm so sorry honey! I know how frustrated, mad, and empty you feel. I'm hoping that you're one of those cases of freak placenta bleeding that heals on it's own and baby is fine. This sucks! I hate seeing any of you go through this. Unfortunately, I am an expert in early miscarriages (I've got 5 under my belt now ). I still dont have any definite answers but I'm working on it. Because drs dont think that chemicals are technically miscarriages, they are iffy about doing recurrrent miscarriage workups just yet. You pretty much have to beg for it. Print this out and bring it to your doctor... http://www.uptodate.com/contents/evaluation-of-couples-with-recurrent-pregnancy-loss
It includes different things they can test for. Also ask to get tested for MTHFR. Most insurances will cover the testing. I'm waiting on my karyotype results now. It could be something like a clotting disorder (it's mostly only specialists that believe that these disorders cause early m/c's) or chromosome defects in some of your eggs, or as simple as low progesterone. My drs kept making me wait to test for stuff despite me asking and I gave in and waited. But I completely regret that now. Having answers a year ago could have saved many of my babies. If you feel something is wrong...fight for testing. They may suggest an RE but the RE would run the exact same tests the regular obgyn would. If the obgyn can figure out what's causing them...it'll save you a lot of money. Hopes this info helps. I know reading all of it puts your brain into a tail spin. Let me know if you need ANYTHING! And please keep me updated honey.

s.taggart910 - Hugs! I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding, but hope everything is okay. Sending prayers your way!
AFM - Had my 2nd IUI yesterday (the last one was in November). I'm testing out my trigger again this time, but typically it does not leave my system until around 11DPO. I am going to try to keep myself busy, so I don't go crazy with anticipation. Surprisingly, this time I am not feeling any cramping. I feel pretty good.
