Athena - at 14 weeks the sex organs are completely developed but very small, so it's difficult to see unless you have a very skilled ultrasound tech. The place i go to have my ultrasounds is a perinatoligists office, and the tech does ultrasounds only. It's a very fancy, expensive machine as well so the picture quality probably has something to do with it. I'm very lucky to find out so early, it has been driving me crazy!

Tara - sending good energy for the twins and family.

Memphrika my ob sends you to an imaging lab for the anatomy scan. They do the gender but also look at the organs and what not but they won't send you until 18-20 weeks

I suppose i forget that not everyone has an ultrasound every 2 weeks.

I have a history of pre-term labor. my first child was born at 24 weeks and passed away after one hour of life.

My 2nd and 3rd children, who are living now, were both born at 36 weeks. My oldest i went into labor 3 times before he was born. Once at 20 weeks, once at 25 weeks and once at 30 weeks.

By the time i was pregnant wiht my youngest, they had learned that progesterone injections could be helpful with preventing pre-term labor so i received a grant to try those out. I didn't go into labor early with him except when i delivered at 36 weeks.

So now, i have an ultrasound every 2 weeks to measure the length of my cervix from 14 weeks and on into the rest of my pregnancy, to tell them if i am going into labor early. So yeah, i see the baby every 2 weeks from now on.
