@xomandy- the dr finally called me back. She wants to do both at a surgery center so we're looking at $350 but that doesnt include anesthesia etc. Mthfr is a debated subject but of all the things I've read and all the specialists I've researched....they all agree that increased folic acid will do squat. If your body has trouble absorbing folic acid as is...adding more will just clog up the gears. They need to prescribe you Methylfolate. It's the broken down version of folic acid that we CAN absorb. You're still getting the 'folic acid' it's just A LOT easier to absorb without causing issues. I asked my dr for it cause I still miscarried on folguard. I'm now on foltanx aka metanx. It includes everything folguard does..it's just more broken down and safer for us. Please ask your doctor to prescribe you methylfolate.

@holly- OMG! You give me hope girl! STICK STICK STICK!!!!!

Dr called me...she wants to do the laprascopy and hysteroscopy. Told her we wont be able to do it for a while due to schedules and money. Told her we're taking a break for a while and she said when we're ready....we can do it.

@xomandy, when you look for a prenatal vitamin, you want the methlylfolate, but you also want it to contain:

B6 in the Pyridoxal 5' Phosphate form
B12 in the methylcobalamin form

If the prenatal does not contain these (or other froms that the MTHFR site has indicated is okay), you can always take supplements with these. I learned about this through the MTHFR website.

This is my first cycle taking Neevo DHA - which contains these and L methylfolate (as Metafolin) and I got my BFP. Could be a coincidence, but who knows. I have noticed my fingernails are no longer dry and brittle. They are hard and healthy.

Sorry about having MTHFR, but hopefully you can now take action to counteract the deficiency.

Good luck!

The metanx also contains the the bioactive of b12 and b6. I think I may have my dr change my prenatal to neevodha too. Was afraid to push it after demanding the metanx LOL

BTW everyone!........HAPPY 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! Well not sure happy is the word for it LOL.

2 years, 7192 replies, and 288177 views later! Wow....cant believe it's been 2 years since I started the asylum! And I'm still rocking my straightjacket in the corner !

Tomorrow's my 28th birthday! I'll be baking all day then celebrating Friday by going to see Dragons 2 and eating crab legs with dh! My inlaws took me out for dinner tonight at my favorite mexican restaurant. I learned tonight that tequila turns my eyes into googley eyes!! ROFL! And I was pronouncing 'tequila' as 'qetiula"! It was only a small glass too! LOL. Dh enjoyed himself though...he got a good laugh out of my horrible pronunciations. I seriously cant believe I'm gonna be 28! What's scary is I'm 1 year away from my mom's "age".

Is there really two forms of MTHFR??
Heterozygous and Polymorphism???

I also read that men can have the same problem, one sign is poor morphology which my husband has. Is that true also?

Polymorphism is just the term used to describe the genetic mutation. You can be homozygous or heterozygous. I'm heterozygous c677t and a1298c. Because it's a genetic mutation, it can be found in both sexes.

Visit mthfr.net. A specialist runs the site. Lots of great info. Also look at youtube videos of Dr Rawlins. He explains it easily

Yea I am C677T Single mutation, that is the heterozygous right?

I just sent my Dr the link cause it states DO NOT TAKE FOLIC ACID so obviously my Dr isn't familiar with this. And I read that this one causes candida build up so that would explain why I have had yeast infections every three dang months for the past two years!

It's amazing how much makes sense when you discover the mutation. Your doctor may fight you on it cause they're bull headed towards it. But still demand the methylfolate.

Homozygous is 2 copies of the same mutation (c677t &c677t)
Heterozygous is 1 copy of either mutation or both (just c677t or c677t & a1298c)
