No Sperm......

My partner and I have been ttc for 16 months now. He went for a SA and within 2 days had a phone call from thr dr to say they found no sperm, not 1, in his semen. He has to go again in April to see if there is any change or if they made a mistake. Has anyone been through this or similar? Really need some help on this

Nats xxx

Is he open to ivf? You might be able to try ICSI, I'm sorry for all the bad news :(
Transfer went ok but had a fair bit of cramping yesterday afternoon as he hit my cervix with the speculum Trying to get a visual, I suppose having a retro uterus would make it hard. Have woken up with a thumper of a headache... Not sure if I have said but I should be able to test on kens birthday, I will be 6dp5dt, he won't let me do anything, I'm on strict be rest, he is cooking, cleaning and whatever else needs to happen, last transfer I went home to bush fires and had to work so we aren't taking any chances this time.

hoping, I really wouldn't give up and move to donor sperm after just one SA. We went from very poor motility and morphology to very good between two different tests. I've heard that the results can vary widely between tests for whatever reason (and there can be lots of reasons). I'm not saying don't look into donor sperm, but I wouldn't totally give on your hubbys just yet. My 2 cents!

Stillfun, glad that Ken is helping out and making sure you get lots of rest. Awesome that you get to test on his bday! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for this to be THE ONE for you!

Hi all :) I am just very quickly checking in.
A lot has gone on since I was last here.

Stillfun super sticky vibes your way!!!!!!!!!

Hoping what a bummer stupid rude doctor, maybe another test?

Northern that is good things are evening out for you, being more consistent should be a big help I would think.

Mel??

AFM: Baby boy Kaj Michael Stroud arrived via emergency c-section on Feb 23rd at 12:23 pm. He weighed 7lb 9 0z and is a very hungry little boy! I spent 2 days in hospital recovering and have at least 6 weeks of no lifting, bending, twisting etc. Super sore, but that is to be expected. Annika is adjusting as well as can be expected, she loves her little brother and want to help, although she def has her moments. Anyways Kaj is waking up and I can feel he is hungry LOL I will ck back when I have another chance

Hey everyone sorry I have been MIA. I read the posts but I haven't had lot of time to get on and write everyone.

Anastasia: Your baby is beautiful!! Congrats on a happy, healthy baby boy!!!

Hoping: Im so sorry about the SA results. I'm thinking the 4mL is the amount of semen? we had the amount of semen (which in my husband's case was HIGH according to the doctor) but no spermatozoa were seen and we had many N/A results too. I def. wouldn't count yourself out just yet. if you are in fact seeing swimmers in the microscope then I would have a second SA done. My husband was told to wait 3 months and then go back because that's how long it takes for sperm to rebuild up. (or something of that nature). The sperm donor process is fairly simple but it really depends on how much your willing to put into it. You could do it all at home without going through a fertility specialist. You also might be lucky to find a midwife who will do the IUIs for cheaper at your home. (I know many that did unfortunately where I live none of them do) I found that going IUI with donor sperm through a doctor easily became just as pricey as IVF. Now obviously if you can find a known donor or were to be one that could get pregnant using donor sperm at home (turkey baster method) or off one/two IUIs you would save in the long run but if it doesn't you will really regret not just moving to IVF. It really sucks either way. to get started I would suggest bringing it up to your fertility doctor first because he might have a bank that he prefers and then its just a matter of choosing your donor and getting the timing right. Knowing all that I know now I personally would've gone straight to IVF but it is a very personal decision and only you and your husband know what you can/can't do and what you can afford. I hope the biopsy comes back negative for cancer and so sorry your birthday wasn't so good this year I hope that by your next birthday all your dreams come true. Good Luck Hoping!

Stillfun: What was the grade on the embie you ended up transferring? do you know if they use vitrification on the embies for freezing? Just curious I heard it has a higher success for thaw. fingers crossed!!! What day is your beta going to be?

Northern: Sorry about AF I never thought about the insurance and the herbs. Thats sucks I think insurance should cover things for those who want to go the healthier/natural route. :( I hope try 3 brings you lots of luck!!

AFM: I leave Wednesday for the week! OMG! I'm becoming a nervous wreck and I always hate leaving my furbabies for so long. :( My lining check is Thursday so hopefully all will go well. My DH won't be able to make it up until next monday. But I plan on doing a lot of resting and reading and maybe hit up the local mall or museum :). Should be nice. I'll try not to wait so long between my next post! Good luck everyone~!!

My embies was a 4 ( means full blast) and rated a BA when frozen it was an AA but the ICM ( inner cell mass) dropped a grade on thaw, yes my clinic uses vitrification ( however its spelt lol) I'm sure its grade is still fine, having lots of AF cramping today, I'm 3dp5dt!! Planning on testing 5dp5dt (10dpo).

Congrats Anastasia! Hope your recovery from the c-section goes well (ouch!). Not easy I'm sure when you're trying to care for a little one!

Mel, good luck!!! I know how hard it is to leave furbabies too. I love travelling but hate leaving them! Try to relax and enjoy your little holiday away.

Stillfun, eekk! I cannot wait to hear your test results. You must be on pins and needles. I don't think I could handle the anticipation! Two more days!

So silly old me found an old frer dip in my bag lastnight so I caved and tested this morn... Got a tiny tiny faint line at 5 min so I figured it was a crappy test, left it and went back to bed, couldn't stop thinking about it so went to check it again at around the 15 min mars and there was the line but darker... It was half dry so I know its prob an evap, I took a pic once it was fully dry aswell, I posted both, I'm not getting my hopes up because there really wasn't too much on the test at 5-7 min but the is a little glimmer of hope lol, I'm going to get a real frer today after lunch and will see what it says

ok, so here is the update after the fertility doc.. Pretty much told us ICSI is going to be our only option and that will run about 18000-20000 dollars. YIKES! Unless we decide to go with a donor iui. Which he said will only run about $1000 per cycle or less. I still have to do an HCG either way. Said DH can do another SA and go to urologist to check if anything is wrong physically. But he thinks with his history of undescended testicle surgery, there prob is very little chance of big enough improvement. And DH is surprisingly open to donor and thinks actually it is the best option for us. If just forgo the urology apt and another SA we can just put that money towards the HSG ($700)

Stillfun: omg!!! I think I see the line. It's still so early but I'm sure it's possible!!! I hope tomorrow's test is darker!! I'm going to be going crazy waiting for your results!!! :)

Hoping: that's great your DH is on board with using donor sperm and that the doctor is saying it will run about $1000 that def worth a couple tries especially compared to the price of IVF with ICSI. I hope it all works quickly for you! If you have any questions let me know. Check out http://www.cryolab.com they are very customer friendly and on the cheaper end you also can view all the donor baby photos for free.

Thanks northern!!!
