No Sperm......

My partner and I have been ttc for 16 months now. He went for a SA and within 2 days had a phone call from thr dr to say they found no sperm, not 1, in his semen. He has to go again in April to see if there is any change or if they made a mistake. Has anyone been through this or similar? Really need some help on this

Stillfun: $800 isn't bad..totally worth it! I think I need to move over by you so I can afford IVF for baby 2 lol! I feel bad ident an email to CC ( to the person I thought was in charge) lol! He just forwarded my message to the original person I talked to lol! She's probably thinking I already talked to this biznitch and here she is emailing you. Oops! I hope she doesn't take it wrong. Guess I need to just relax and what will happen will happen I'm a control freak so having it out of my hands is both stressful and relaxing at the same time haha!!

LOL, Mel, I bet they see all kinds of anxious and stressed out people - don't worry about it. Hope you hear back soon.

Stillfun, yes, they asked me to lay down for 15 mins. I stayed for 20 mins for good measure. I'm still really crampy today though - I hope that's ok. It has me a bit worried, as I get some sharp pains periodically and it really hurts when I sit down or move my belly too fast. We were told to BD last night AND today too but there's no way that was going to happen. We tried this am but it was too soon for hubby and I was too sore. Will try again tonight. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through this TWW. At least I'll have the holidays to distract me and we have friends visiting for a week too. No drinking though and I'm trying to only eat healthy foods!

Yeah im on the health kick again, im still drinking Decafe, I never changed over after my ET. I have been having a few beers here and there but after Christmas I will stop and get ready for my FET, Im sort of worried because I cant get to town for meds and when I asked my nurse after the first round what was next she just said to come in CD10 and then wait for ET, I didn't know I needed a review apt to discuss our next move and now its too late to pick up meds, so FX he will have me on a natural cycle or the drugs can be posted, im really really worried about it but I will know whats going on at lunch time when I have my tele conference.
Mel I totally get why you are stressed and anxious, I was worried last time because I thought CD 1 would come before my doctor was back from leave and that would have meant I couldn't go ahead, but lucky everything panned out.
Ken still feels like the clinic is taking advantage of us and we are getting nothing for our money so the more you can involve your DH the better I think, Ken wont even go in for a internal U/S, he feels very uncomfortable and cant stand the thought of someone going "down there", so that means I will be doing my FET on my own AGAIN, I wish he could just get over himself sometimes LOL
Northern I would call your clinic and ask if the cramping should be so intense, have you gone onto any IUI forums and asked any other girls? It cant hurt to be safe, maybe the catheter scratched your cervix, you said you had spotting? I didn't feel a thing with my ET and they use two catheters, It cant hurt anyway I would hate to see you with an infection.

Thanks stillfun, if it still hurts tomorrow, I'll give them a call. I have looked at a few IUI groups and no one really seems to mention the cramping as being that bad. I know I can be a bit sensitive, so maybe it's just my body over-reacting. I think they did scratch my cervix a bit. I was spotting and had some pretty intense pain when he was putting the catheter in. Maybe I have a really narrow cervix - when I tried to get an IUD many years ago, my MD tried twice and couldn't get it in properly and finally gave up and said it just wasn't going to happen.

Hope you are just on a natural cycle this time and don't need the meds. I can relate about Ken and the clinic - my DH couldn't get in and out of there fast enough yesterday. He finds it really embarrassing too. This was the first time he's gone with me there. I was happy though that he stayed with me for the IUI - I thought he was going to bugger off back to work. It's hard to know how much to try to involve them - I want him involved but I don't want him overwhelmed with all the information and technical stuff.

We have 4 embryos left there you dick head, then he says yeah but we still have to pay for them, but not as much GGRRRR its an ongoing battle!
He just wants a baby

Looks like I am finally out. AF surely took her time coming this month. Finally starting to very lightly bleed. I hope those fertility vitamins kick in for DH soon! After 42 mos ttc, this is getting OLD!!!!!!!

LOL Stillfun! Sorry, but I can just imagine it! I don't think they realize how difficult it can be and that it's not a guarantee just because you got treatment. My DH seems to think that we aren't doing it at the right time on our own and that it's a given that the IUI will work.

Hoping, I'm sorry you're out this cycle. Seems like an odd one - have you tested again recently? You've been TTC about the same amount of time as us. It is definitely getting OLD! Those fertility vits can and do help, so fingers crossed that it's just a matter of time. Apparently it takes at least 3 mos to see any benefits. My DH has been on them (on and off) for at least a year.

Hi girls,

Well I had my phone consult with my specialist and I asked about transferring 2 and got a flat out no... LOL he said because this is the first Blastocyst we have transferred and because im young he doesn't want to risk twins, He is also running a new batch of bloods to look for reasons why my body could be failing to implant properly, He also said that there are some killer cells that wont show up on blood work, he is putting my on a drug called Progynova, I am also going to do oestrogen pesseries (yay) and will also be on aspirin, He is worried as to why the last emby didn't implant because it was perfect! Which really worries me, and it also makes a little sense because of having 3 chemical now. I am glad they are looking into it before the transfer anyway. I got a list of my embro grades I have 1 4AA, 1 4AB, 1 4BA and 1 3BB the grading works like this, the number is the stage of blastocyst is was when frozen I think a 6 is hatching and 5 is complete but there are 5 stages of blastocysts but they have great chances once they reach even stage 1, the letters are grading the two components, the inner cell mass that will eventually become the fetus and the TE that will eventually become the placenta, im not sure what letter for what side and how low the letters go but i think the first 3 sound really good! Now you have all had a lesson on embryo grading i will let you go LOL Hope you are all well

Stillfun: I'm so glad that the doctors are looking into it. I'm so surprised they wont transfer two. I know there are some doctors in the US that are like that but most will allow two embies and some will even allow 3 if they aren't the best grades. Well I hope that the added meds do the trick. It is strange that at our ages any of us are having issues. It Sucks!!

Hoping: I'm so sorry about AF I hope the meds start showing a change soon.

Northern: How are you feeling? Has the cramping gone away?

AFM: I have my doctor new patient phone consultation tomorrow at 1 woohoo!!!! I was going to have to wait until January but they ended up getting a cancellation. Now I'm just going to have to figure out how to sneak away at work for a half hour lol! I'm so excited. My husband was freaking out about money the other day telling me that he doesn't think we will be able to get a loan out for the whole amount and we are going to need to save. I sure hope we can save enough and get a good size loan by the time we get a our first match. I would hate to turn it down do to money. :( I wish I had thought more about that earlier as I could have told everyone to just send us money for Christmas. UGH! Oh well gotta try to just take it one day at a time.

Wow stillfun, they grade embryos just like diamonds, lol.

Mel, that's great that you're getting the consult now! You'll find a way to come up with the money.

AFM, yes the cramping stopped so I think all is ok on that front. My temp also zoomed up to 37 C this am - it's usually around 36.5 during luteal phase. Not sure if it's because I wasn't sleeping well or if it's implanted already - it's only 3 days post IUI so I can't see that happening. I've been worrying myself sick all day today though. I slipped and fell on ice this morning and landed on my right pinkie finger somehow. I didn't feel it hurt but my finger felt stuck when I got up. When I looked at it, my finger was bent backwards and wouldn't go back in place - it was disgusting looking! Anyhow, I went to the clinic and told them I might be pregnant but they went ahead with an xray and said it would be ok because it was on an extremity and they used the lead shield blanket. I came home and did a bunch of research online and it seems like it is an extremely low risk, and it's still prior to organogenesis, which is the really critical period. Still feel a bit uneasy about it though.

Anyhow, after all that, it turns out that it was just dislocated and the doctor was able to pop it back in. It looked bad on the xray though, lol, it was sitting way outside of the joint, kind of beside it. No wonder it looked so crooked. Crazy that our bones can move that dramatically. I kinda wish I'd just gone to the chiropractor first and he could have just popped it into place. I guess they had to check for bits of broken bone fragments though. I told the doctor I didn't care, it's just my pinkie on my non-dominant hand, lol.

So, yeah, I wasted a day on that and have so many things to do. This next week is going to be crazy busy and I'm trying to relax and not stress so I can grow a baby! I'm thinking now that maybe it wasn't such a good idea doing the IUI right before the holidays. Oh well, there's probably never a good time.
