November IVF buddies

Hi,

I'm doing my first IVF this November. I don't normally post on here but if there was ever a time to reach out it is now.

Anybody else?

Our NT scan yesterday at 12w2d went wonderfully and all looks normal! I was so scared that something would be wrong. Baby was measuring just shy of 2 1/2 inches and 12w4d. Finally got a heart rate of 159! There's a picture on my page.

Baby was being stubborn and didn't want to move out of a head stand in there so I had to jump, walk and wiggle around a bit to get him or her in a good position. It was so crazy seeing actual facial features and little flailing arms and legs. I was like I can't believe there's actually a baby moving around inside me, are you sure this isn't a picture of someone else's baby?! We officially feel ready to announce to all of our family and friends for Christmas! I'm so excited I might not be able to sleep til the day after :-)

How is everyone else doing? Any fun plans for the holidays?

Ahhhh, Mnor!! I'm so excited for you! You are in the clear!! He/she looks just beautiful :) I know you guys are over the moon!! How exciting to make all the announcements around the Holidays!

We are really mixing our Christmas plans up this year due to my Father in Laws passing. We will be hosting EVERYTHING at our house... which is a little stressful, but I love it! It seems bitter sweet this year. It's so fun to be pregnant around the Holidays and get gifts related to the baby and expect a new little man soon... but then we are missing someone really important too. It's an odd feeling.

I can't remember if I shared but I went to the Perinatal specialist again last week. The size of little man's kidney's have doubled... from 8mm to 16mm each :( It's a pretty severe case and they have recommended inducing at 37-38 weeks!! Scary, but since they can't do anything for him in-utero, it's best to get him out. They are positive about the outcome once they can treat him when he is here though. We meet with a pediatric urologist in January and will learn more. That means I only have 8-9 weeks of being pregnant left. Holy Crap!!!

Mnor- my heart is full for you. So glad that everything is looking good, you've experienced your own heartache on this long journey and I am so glad to see things turn around for you.

Waitinggame - I wish you a smooth 7-8 weeks ahead and a healthy delivery and treatment for your baby boy.

As for me, I'm hanging in there, have my ok days and have my really bad days but I have to have faith in that this will one day work for us too. We still have the frozen embryos to hopefully have success with. In my head, I'm slowly working on being ok with our loss in that there was something very wrong with this baby and that's what caused it to stop growing. We've all waited so long to have a baby, that no matter how much this hurts now, it just wasn't meant to be this time.

Wishing everyone here a wonderful holiday season! May all of our wishes come true for the new year ahead!

@mnor-Thank you so much for your response! Wow, how generous of your family!! That is truly amazing. My sister has offered to loan us the money, but we are really iffy about it. I think we would rather take a few more months to save up and not have the debt. I would be ok, taking money for my medication, but i would feel better having a good chunk saved up. I am so happy your final IVF worked. Everything will be so worth it once you have your little in your arms. Congrats!!! I am happy your last check up went well!!

Hello everyone! Happy holidays!
surgery for polyps removal went well, no pain at all but with discharge after couple of days and still having spots.
Anyhow, as per nurse need to wait for my period then i can start all the testing and blood works so i can start all the meds. Hopefully retrieval 1st week of february.
Did any of you need to quit job for the IVF?
What are the things that you did or did not do to have a successful IVF.?

Have a blessed holiday and very prosperous new year to all!

We all want for xmas and new year is a healthy conception, healthy pregnancy and healthy baby..... And may we all recieve this blessing!

Waitinggame - Sorry that your little ones kidneys increased in size! I am glad they are positive about treating him though. I have a coworker whose son was diagnosed with cysts on his kidneys and her doctors basically scared the crap out of her for no reason. They were all doom and gloom and she was too afraid to even set up a nursery but now he is a happy healthy 9 month old! Sometimes I think detailed ultrasounds cause just as much unnecessary worry as they solve.

Awhittaker - Glad to hear you are having some ok postive days! I'm wishing you many more good days and that they outnumber the bad days. Keep looking towards the future and one (or more!) of those little frozen embies becoming your next baby!

Mayer - I did not quit my job for ivf. I had accumulated 28 sick days after working there for 6 years and during the last 18 months between 6 ivfs and 3 mc's I blew through 25 of those 28. Yikes! Thankfully I had that cushion saved up and an understanding boss! Also, as a teacher we had enough breaks that I tried to schedule appts during weeks off or at the very least do an egg retrieval on a Friday so I would have the weekend to rest. I did take half a summer off though 2 years in a row (2012 and 2013) for iui's and an ivf. Instead of working summer school for the full 6 weeks I split it with another teacher and only did 3. I think it would have been much harder if I worked a regular 9-5 and I would have had to spread the 6 ivf rounds over several years instead of back to back.

I have had a very anxiety filled last couple days with this pregnancy! On Monday I was taking laundry downstairs and slipped and fell down a couple stairs on my bum. Everyone told me it's fine, don't worry but I was up worrying all Monday night. Yesterday I called my doctor and told her and she said she could squeeze me in and check the doppler. Heard the hb and it was still averaging in the 150's so I chilled. Then 6 hours later I went number 2 and had some bright red bleeding so I freaked again because I haven't had any bleeding since 8 weeks but it stopped after like 20 mins just like all the other times I have had bleeding. Hopefully the bleeding was just from straining a bit and completely unrelated to the fall. It has also been 4 weeks exactely since my last bleed so maybe it's breakthrough bleeding when I should expect a period? I just hate bleeding at all! My hubby had to try to calm me down and tell me I just heard the hb. Still, it's such bad timing to have a bleed when I am starting to announce the pregnancy to people tonight! Ahhhh! So excited and nervous at the same time!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas Eve/ Happy Holidays/ Happy _____ fill in the blank of whatever you celebrate :-).

Hello everyone,
Hope everyone had a good and happy holidays! Its my start of my cycle, 4th day so its my 1st blood works today. I ask my nurse about timeline , she said it sll depend on how i respond to the meds. So, how many weeks was your cycle from period to retrieval and implant?

Are you using birth control pills to down regulate before starting your stim meds? If so it'll probably be about 5-6 weeks until retrieval. If you are just starting stims right after this bloodwork then you could be looking at retrieval in as little as 2 weeks. My first round I stimmed for 11 days, triggered on the 12th day and retrieval 14th day. That was pretty typical schedule-wise for the average woman and I had 13 eggs, also average. My other 2 rounds were fast, not typical and had a ton of eggs. Second round I stimmed for 8 days, trigger on 9th, retrieval on 11th of 23 eggs I think. And the third round was super fast I only stimmed for 7 days, trigger on 8th and retrieval on 10th of 24 eggs.

Thank you mnor , i just started my BC yesterday. And plan that stim start on 19.

Hi ladies! So I will be starting meds the end February and hopefully our retrieval and transfer in March. I am getting so so anxious about what to do if it doesnt work! How do you ladies cope with this?? I have not even started and i am freaking out and already thinking about when it doesnt work. I want to stay positive and have faith! Ugh, this is tough work!
