How many embryos are best for IVF?
Hi all,
I'm in the middle of an IVF cycle and they retrieved 23 eggs during the harvest, fertilized 15 of them, and only 10 remained this morning (the day after the harvest.)
The eggs will have PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis) on Day 5, and they will do the transfer on the morning of Day 6.
The doctor told me to expect that more will not make it to Day 5, and that she was hoping for between 1-3 good eggs to transfer. How possible is that we will have that many eggs to transfer come Day 6? Are we still fully in the game or are we pushing it?

Hi ya I had IVF but not PGD I had 16 eggs which I donated half of to another lady so had 8, 4 made it to blastocyst stage. I used 3 and have 1 left in the freezer.
We was never allowed to transfer 3 as im 'fairly' young and the risk of multiples was too great, I had to fight to have 2 put back but that was only after having an early miscarriage on my fresh cycle.
