Hi,

I'm doing my first IVF this November. I don't normally post on here but if there was ever a time to reach out it is now.

Anybody else?

Just checking in to see how you guys are doing? My first OB appt is Wednesday. Are you guys getting another ultrasound at that appt? The receptionist said I didn't need it since I had one at 6w5d but I would love to check the heartbeat again. I need to call my insurance and see if they'll pay did it, but the woman in billing said it should be no problem to book one of I want it. Just got to convince the hubs to pay out of pocket of insurance says no :) I honestly don't feel pregnant. Just very tired. I have this terrible fear of having a missed miscarriage.... Like not knowing if the heart is still beating or that is growing. I don't get a 13 week ultrasound for Down's syndrome because my embryo was already genetically tested. Maybe my doc will want one anyways? I don't know. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Hope everyone has a good thanksgiving! We told my side of the family that day so it was very exciting! Talk to you all soon! Hope babies and mommies are doing well :)

I am not getting an u/s tomorrow either. I am hoping they will at least try to find a hb with a doppler because I really need some kind of reassurance that baby is still in there and doing good! I have a friend who has a home doppler and said I could borrow it but I don't want to use it until I know at least a doctor or nurse can find it. If I try on my own too early I might freak myself out. They said they would probably schedule an u/s though at that appt.

I didn't do pgd so I will definitely do the NT scan. I don't really care one way or the other if the baby has a risk of down syndrome I just want to see the baby again. It's not going to change my mind on anything. After trying for a baby for 6 1/2 years it's not like I'm going to terminate for anything! This is my baby no matter what.

I asked my hubby to buy me a package for Christmas at a semi-local 3d/4d ultrasound place that does elective u/s whenever you want so I can get a couple extra!

I am really hoping that because I did have 3 early losses my insurance will cover the blood test for genetic abnormalities that they don't usually cover unless you are over 35. Again, I don't really care one way or the other, but the big perk is the test will tell you the gender early! Of course I won't tell my doctor that! I'll just pretend to be really concerned about abnormalities :-)

We are still waiting til Christmas and after our next u/s to reveal to most people. I can't wait :-)

I totally just did the blood test to find out the sex, I was so anxious!! My OB pretty much knew that though. We definitely weren't and are not terminating no matter what, but I think it's always good to be mentally prepared if something is wrong. We are all going to have happy healthy baby's though!! Mnor - I can't wait for you to tell your friends and family, that will be SO exciting for you I know!!

I hit my 3rd trimester on Friday. I can't believe it! So much to do!! He moves all the time and it's pretty much the best feeling in the world :) Can't wait for y'all to experience that!

I have another appt with the perinatal specialist next Tuesday to check on my little guys kidneys. All I can do is hope and pray the fluid within the kidneys has reduced, or even stayed the same, and that there is plenty of amniotic fluid so we know he is peeing!). I'm just excited to see him, period. I feel like it's been forever!

Congrats on hitting your 3rd trimester waitinggame! Before you know it he will be here! Good luck for your next specialist appt! I hope it turns out better than expected.

My first prenatal went pretty well. I liked the new ob I saw today, she was very nice and spent a lot more time with me than my old ob who left that practice. No doppler though :-( She said she doesn't check til after 12 weeks and recommended I don't use a home doppler til at least then either.

We scheduled a NT/ 1st trimester screening u/s for the 18th. Ugh! 2 more weeks til I can see the baby again! They weren't even going to schedule me for an ultrasound til 18 weeks because they don't do the NT scans locally and I'm not over 35 or have a family member with down syndrome but I talked them into it. So now I get to go to the city to the maternal fetal medicine/ perinatal clinic that has all the fancy high tech ultrasound machines! Can't wait to get a good look at the baby on a machine that isn't ancient!

The only thing I didn't like was the internal pelvic exam. The doctor said she was checking to feel my pelvic bones and make sure they were wide enough for baby to come out. Holy heck! Ouch! I'll have worse than that coming in 30 weeks lol. Suck it up buttercup I guess!

Mnor glad to hear your first visit went well. I had an apt at 8w1d and it was just an introductory appt to the clinic. They weren't going to do a us and I kind of freaked out because I really wanted to see the baby then. They had a small portable us that they used called a v scan. They were able to find the baby right away even though he doubted he would be able to. I now have my second appt next Tuesday to do bloodwork, etc. I have a perinatal appt on the 22nd as I'll be 35 when I deliver. I'm contestantly feeling anxious about whether all is ok but I haven't had any symptoms that should tell me otherwise. I did have a friend give me her Doppler and yes I think it's a bad idea to try so early. Of course I can't find the heartbeat so I freak out but their website also says 12 weeks so I just have to be patient. Tomorrow I will be finally 10 weeks and I get to get off all my meds including endometrin, prometrium and estrace. My husband keeps asking what I want for Christmas and my response is a healthy baby and a v scan (they are 7k). :) I'm good with just the first.

Waiting- congrats on your 3rd trimester. I hope you get good news about your baby boys kidneys. I can't wait to feel the baby kick.

Jen- hope to hear from you soon about how your appt went!

I'd definitely be scared to do the doppler at home! They've had trouble finding the heartbeat even at the doctor a couple of times with my little guy. They say he moves a lot (and due to the fact of the anterior placenta)... I know how anxious you get though!

Would you believe they have yet to give me a pelvic exam since I became pregnant?! I'm like, you don't need to look in there for anything?!! Not that I like it, lol, I guess just after constantly being examined and prodded for a year + it seems odd they didn't need to do it. They haven't checked the size of my pelvis or anything yet... I assume that will come within the next couple appointments though?

Glad to hear everyone's appointments went well! I wasn't scheduled for an u/s but my OB said she would scan me real quick just to see a heartbeat because the ultrasound tech wasn't there, and she didn't charge it! So she did. I was 8w6d on Wednesday and I could see the heartbeat, little arms and legs, and we saw it moving around!!! It was the coolest thing I've ever seen! So amazing how developed it was at just under 9 weeks!! So I'm happy again and believe I'm pregnant this week :) my next appt is 1/5/15 for the nuchal scan. She said that even though we had pgs she is still going to scan the baby because there are some syndromes they check for. She just said no need for the blood draw part since we know it's negative for downs and trisomy 18. I'll be 13w4d at the appt, but I'm thrilled to have another u/s next month! So happy to hear we all are moving along! I want a Doppler but my husband is adamant that I not get one because he is worried I'll become obsessive... Which I will. I'm okay with waiting now that I will have an appt every month and get to hear it by u/s or Doppler!
