Over 40 TTC.... and I KNOW I am not the ONLY one: Part IV

Well, we got to page 16 so I started it over......

here's a recap of my story:
My name is Carolyn... I am 37 (close to 40) and just had my first child this summer but dh and I don't want to wait too long for another because it took us 2 years to have our first and we are getting older..... so we are TTC #2 now!

I have a question for you ladies: my temp dropped today but I have been getting negative opks so far.... only been testing once a day because I am only on cycle day 10 today and usually I O around day 12.... do you think I missed the surge and we should bd anyway today? or should I just wait and see if I get a postive opk in the next few days?

Wow!!!! So much going on with everyone! Welcome to new ladies! I love reading everyone's stories and journeys....my prayers are with you all...

I have stepped into my 3rd trimester and honestly feeling all 44 of my years....in my defense i keep telling myself that taking care of a 7 month old (and 7 other kids) is no easy task for the non pregnant...we had an emotional week this past week with the baby's birth mother trying to take him to Dallas....i don't think i was made for fostering.....we've had this guy since 10 days old and he is our son....i won't be able to give him back.....like ever.....pray for me...

We have our 3d sonogram on Monday! I've never had one so Im excited. Keep hope alive.....xoxoxoxo

Kraken, sorry, don't know the answer to your boob question. How's it going?

Swimmom, I'm so very pleased for you!!

Nobody seems to be checking in anymore, but I'll update all the same.

I'm on 8 days of stims, I'm guessing that I will trigger Wednesday for retrieval on Friday. Wish me luck!

Essemkay...I wish u luck and will keep my fingers crossed

I have kept up to date with all the posts and the complex issues of TTC. Its been a bit of a mixed bag recently but there is always hope ladies so don't give up.

I have 11 days until I meet our new little girl. C-section booked so we know she will be here on that day unless I go into labour by myself (unlikely). We are so excited, its been a long 9 months and are just desperate to meet her now.

Hi ladies! Glad to know all is well Swimmom and Number3! You guys are our inspiration!

I have been so bad about updating everyone on my status! essemkay, thanks for giving us a nudge!

AFM - I never received full flow AF this month. Last month, she only came for about 12 hours full flow. Other than that, I have just spotted.

Well this month, I spotted for about 3 days and since I didn't have full flow AF, my RE's nurse told me I could not schedule my baseline sonogram. The long story short, is that meant no clomid for me this mornth, no trigger, and no timed intercourse while being monitored by my RE. I was very disappointed, but on the bright side I thought...I have been getting pregnant on my own and now that I know I have the MTHFR gene. At least I know some of what my issue staying pregnant may be. Six days ago, I began taking my prescription prenatal vitamins (Prena1). These are special vitamins with folic acid broken down in the folate form, so my body can absorb it (which is something my body apparently has difficulty with given my MTHFR diagnosis). As a matter of fact, I have read that taking folic acid (in the non folate form) is harmful to people with my condition. Of course I had folic acid in my prenatal vitamins I was taking and was taking extra folic acid since I'm over 40. Can't blame that on anyone since I took it upon myself to so.

Well let's fast forward to Saturday. On Saturday, I woke up and peed in a cup, took my temp and went back to bed. Unfortunately, I slept so long that when I tried to use my Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor (CBEFM), it already defaulted to High Fertility - Drats! I missed my testing window! Well I POAS anyway and when I looked at it, I said, this sucker looks positive to me! I then took a wondfo OPK and it was positive! Wow, I frantically dug through my stash and found a CBE digital OPK. I POAS and got a smiley face! I was over the moon. As a back up, I had a CBE digital OPK pack that was unused. This one was the type that shows O for negative, smiley with marks outside the smiley if it is high fertility and a smiley for peak. I POAS on that one for the heck of it and it was a peak! Whew...

Just so you know, my decision to POAS using the CBE Digital that shows highs and peaks was a mistake! I ruined a whole pack. With that digital, once it detects a peak, you can't use it anymore! Apparently the smiley face stays on it! I am going to save the sticks though. I think I can use them in my other non CBEFM digital.

I pounced on DH that afternoon (Saturday - May 11) and again on Sunday (May 12). According to FF, I O'd yesterday (May 12). I plan to BD again tonight just for fun and good measure!

Saturday and Sunday I had O pains and today I have a different type of pain...more cyst-like, so I am hoping it is a corpus luteum cyst. We shall see.

I forgot to mention that I did get a peak on Sunday on my CBEFM, so I'm certain it would have been a peak on Saturday by the looks of it.

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to catch everyone up with what is going on in Holly's world!

What's up with you guys? We need another BFP in here soon!

I'm Jackie. I love reading the posts. All the success is inspirational. I'm trying to conceive but have fibroids that are an issue, they can cause a miscarriage. I am having surgery to remove them on the 21st. Has anyone else had this done? am a bit disappointed that it will effect a month of ttc or so.

Welcome Jaxx6207!

Unfortunately, I personally have never had this procedure, but I have a coworker who did. I believe she was 37 and had her fibroids removed. A few cycles later she received her BFP. She also had them return while she was pregnant, but they elected to have them removed after she gave birth. She delivered a healthy baby boy in December!

Are you seeing an Reproductive Specialist? I would suggest getting a full panel to see where all of your hormones and levels - including genetic testing. That way if something else is out of whack, you can work on it while you are also waiting to recoup from your surgery.

I say this because I found out I had polyps that I had to have surgically removed back in October. That was after a Chemical Pregnancy in September. I just found out that I also have the MTHFR gene (this was after finally going to see an Reproductive Endocrinologist last month). It would have been nice to address everything at once and perhaps I would not have had my 3rd miscarriage in February had I discovered this issue back when I had the CP in August.

FXD your BFP will be on the way after your procedure!

Thank you! I haven't done the blood tests yet. My insurance doesn't cover them, but Iwill if no bfp after surgery, I want to hope.

I have kids, but I am in a different place and would like one more.

Its wonderful to be in a place where we are have the same goal. Its rough to be the only one of my friends who wants another baby.

Swimmom, glad your scan went well. Praying the 3 hr Glucose test will go well!

AFM - I wanted to clarify something. I noticed my CBE digital that shows highs and peaks finally went blank today. When I read the instructions it says that once you get a peak, the smiley face remains on the results window for 48 hours! Duh! I tested today and it was negative. I still have 4 sticks that I can use next time if I need to.

On the down side, I think DH and I should have BDd last night. I didn't think about it until just now. TMI, but I was so horny last night! DH was asleep and gets up at 4:00 am to go to the gym, so I didn't want to bother him. Then this morning it hit me...I might have been ovulating! Ugh. We BDd Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully that was enough. I may try to BD tonight just in case.

My CM is very creamy now, so it is probably too late.
