2017 IUI/IVF

Hey ladies! I have an 18 month old daughter from my 6th round of IVF back in 2014 and we have started the process of trying for baby #2 in 2017. We may do a couple IUI rounds before using our frozen embryos from 2014. Any ladies who will be doing IUI or IVF in the new year?

Hi Ladies,

I am new here and hoping I can join in! My situation is a little different but would love to share the experience with people going through the same procedures!

I am going to be a surrogate. The parents are a gay male couple and therefore cannot carry for themselves. They have used a donor egg and one of the father's sperm. We transferred 1 embryo yesterday via IVF and I will get my first beta on August 8th.

Hoping its ok to join in here even though I am not trying for myself.

Thanks

Welcome surromom! Of course you can join in! What an amazing gift you are trying to give that couple! I almost switched to surrogacy after 5 failed IVF transfers but luckily #6 worked and is now my 2 yr old daughter. I just had a transfer on Monday for baby #2. You're welcome to obsess over symptoms and betas with me lol

Do you know the couple personally? Are you doing a compassionate surrogacy or a paid one?

Hi surromom and welcome to rhe group! I am curious to know if this will be your first time as a surrogate mom.... Good luck for you!!! I started estrogen 2 days ago. I will be doing my second FET since I ended up MC in May. Hope this is the good one!!!
Just ordered a book on amazon to help me deal with anxiety... it is called "Pregnancy after a loss: a guide to pregnancy after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death." Hope it is good and helps me handle everything.

Hi Mnor! Thanks for letting me join! I have a 10 year old daughter of my own but my husband came with 3 kids so we are not having anymore of our own!

Fingers crossed for your BFP!

I have known the couple for about 5 years. They are good friends of ours. I am doing it altruistically (I'm from Canada and paid surrogacy is illegal here). Basically, they pay for all the pregnancy related expenses (prenatals, medical costs, etc) but nothing else. They are an amazing couple who are going to make great daddies!

Woohoo can't wait to start obsessing over symptoms... I am already itching to pee on that stick! lol

ma_escape - Yes this is my first time being a surrogate. Fingers crossed this is your time! Sending you lots of baby dust! Do you know when you will transfer?

Paid surrogacy is also illegal here in NY. We had lined up a coworker of mine with 5 kids and my SIL who were willing to go through testing and the whole legal process to possibly become our surrogate. It's such a huge favor to ask of someone. It's really hard to find someone you can trust and who is willing to do it for nothing in return.

I am also dying to poas! I think I'm going to try tomorrow morning because that's when I got a positive with my daughter.

Hey Ma_espe : glad to hear you have a plan in place!

Mnor0406 : I bet you're on pins and needles about testing. I'm curious to see how I'll feel in the future (i.e., when to test before beta)

Welcome surromom2be : that's such a kind and amazing thing to do for another - give them new life!

AFM -
Just left the pharmacy office. Went in for my injectables training - and now I'm on information overload ????.
But I am thankful to be at this stage. I start stims on CD3. Not sure when AF will appear. I stopped estrogen & progesterone last night, so we'll see.

Mnor, congratulations on your beautiful embaby being back with you!! So exciting! How are you doing? Any symptoms yet? I will keep everything crossed for you and your beta on August 3rd!! And thanks! It actually was NOT twins, I was just a little crazy and we had one lovely little sac and baby on our first ultrasound. I guess it was just strong and pumping out all that HCG!! :-) How is your little nugget doing with swim lessons? I’m sure that keeps you super busy!

Dancemom, how are you doing? I’m so excited for you to start stims soon! And I totally second what Mnor said… be very flexible and plan on dates changing because this process can be so unpredictable! And don’t worry about the injectables. It seems so overwhelming but after a day or two you’ll feel like a pro. I did all my own injections and had no issue with them.

Ma_espe, sorry to hear that you didn’t get your miracle rainbow, but I’m glad that you are moving forward. I’m glad AF showed up a little early... Congrats on being in your FET cycle!! August 10th will be here before you know it!

Surromum, welcome! Congratulations on your transfer! I think it’s awesome that you are helping a loving couple realize their dream of being parents! What a fantastic story for that little baby to hear when it grows up. :-) We are here to answer any questions that you have!

Sorry for the long absence, ladies. I’ve been busy with work, several weddings, traveling, and of course clinic visits. Things are going well for me and my little bean… blood work has all looked good, HCG rose appropriately, we had our first ultrasound on July 18 (6w4d) with heart rate 110, and our second ultrasound on July 26 (7w5d) with hear rate 154. I’m at 8 weeks exactly today. I’m still feeling pretty great - no morning sickness at all, only sore huge boobs, tired all the time, hungry and thirsty constantly, and therefore peeing every 20 minutes. Intermittent cramping occasionally but nothing terrible. I did have a low thyroid so I was started on synthroid in addition to my estrogen patches, three times daily estrogen pills, and nightly PIO shot. At least I get to stop estrogen and PIO after 10 weeks!! We have one more ultrasound on August 9 (9w5d) before graduating from the specialist to a regular OB. :-)

It's been awhile how has everything been going with you ladies ?

I had to take a break from treatments cause of a abnormal Pap but everything was Benign:) ... so here I am on my 3rd round of clomid and IUI . It should be next weekend praying my eggs are ready in Saturday so I don't have to be late into work Monday .. have my next step consult the following week to discuss what steps next which I believe is injections with IUI . And have no idea what the cost will be for that ugh . I'm hoping we get pregnant this cycle

Well I tried testing this morning and nothing! Grrrr! It was very faint at 5dpt with my daughter so I'll try again tomorrow or Monday.

Futuredancemom- Don't worry you'll figure out the injections quick. I liked to keep a calendar with all my med and doses for each day so I could check them off. It is a lot to keep track of.

Kmk- Glad to hear all is going well with your little baby! Graduating to a regular ob is exciting and scary at the same time because they don't see you as often. It's hard to go from weekly ultrasounds to only every 10 weeks or so. I bought my own home doppler so I could check on baby as often as I wanted! The last PIO shot day was the best day ever lol

Two+1- Glad everything was benign and you can start trying again! I did IUI with injectables and luckily my insurance covered meds for IUI but not IVF (no idea why they are the same damn thing). Might want to call them just to see. If not injectables for me were like $2,000 but it could go higher. If they are covered order as much as possible so you will have leftovers if you ever need to move on to IVF.
