Margie - I personally think it is not their business ;) so I don't say anything. If I have to leave I just say it is for a personal reason and I make up that time anyways so they never said anything to me. I believe the less the people at work know about me the better. I have people who love to gossip and I just want to punch them in the face when I see them whisper so I don't say anything about my personal life at work

I actually don't say anything to people I know.. My family does not even know I am doing IVF. Except my husband and one friend nobody knows (and she only knows b/c I had to ask her for a shot one day)

Sadly because I work for the Canadian Government down in the US and they cover my insurance I have to keep them in the loop.
I have to admit I regret telling my family that my DH and I were TTC but the few friends I've told have been super supportive about the whole process.

LShrader - My RE had me start the Crinone on the second day after the retrieval. Crinone gets really icky after the first couple of days. On the day of my transfer, they told me to wait until after the transfer to put in the Crinone. They clean any build up of it while they're in there because they have to clean your cervix really well.

Basia - that is a great amount of eggs! I might have missed the post, but do you know yet whether they're doing a 3 day or 5 day transfer? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Gemma - Congrats on your BFP!!!!

TTC - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they see what's supposed to be there tomorrow!

AFM - I got my first BFP ever a couple weeks ago after my first round of IVF. However, after a week of agonizing over whether or not it was going to be viable (My Beta didn't double after the first two days, but it did between the second test and the third test), I ended up getting my period a day later than usual (I have a 17 day Luteal Phase). So, I am devastated, but trying now to focus on losing some weight and DH and I are tentatively planning on doing a FET in August. We were able to freeze 3 embryos so hopefully, one of those suckers will work and stick.

I am rooting for all of you to get your sticky BFPs!

@margie- for your work question, i ended up telling my boss right after our first failed IUI. It was never my intention to tell her because personally I thought I was putting myself in a vulnerable position. If she knew we were trying to get pregnant, would she even want me to continue with her. Of course that would be illegal, but still, it crossed my mind. I work for a family law attorney so my work is quite demanding. I am basically her legal and personal assistant. If i am out of the office (which i was a lot), her world tends to stop turning! ha. I came to work the morning i found out it didn't work and I was a mess. Only one of my coworkers knew about what was going on as i sat right next to her. She was and still is a huge cheerleader for me. I was a mess though. My boss walked over to my desk as i was bawling. I couldn't really hide it anymore. Plus, after saying I had been to 15 dentist appointments that year was probably getting a little fishy!! She has been so supportive and been so much more lenient about when i need to be out of the office. I am SO thankful i have her on my side with this.

I totally know what Basia means with how its none of anyone's business, and i totally get that too. However, we have been really open about or story with anyone who really wants to know. Trust me, i am not just blabbing...We are doing ivf! But our families know, and our closest friends know. I wouldn't have it any other way. They are our rock. They keep me going in this. I figure the more people who know, the more people there are praying for us.

I am not ashamed of our infertility battle. It sucks every single day, but my marriage would not be where it is if we hadn't gone through this. I have made so many friendships along the way as well. I get that it can be embarrassing. I hate how infertility is such a quiet subject, i think that is what makes us feel very alone. For that reason, i have promised myself that I won't be quiet about our journey.

Sorry, that is probably way more than you wanted to know!!

Another reason why i told my boss was i was discovering that it was more stressful hiding what i was doing and that stress was unnecessary on my body with what we were going through.

@Lulu - oh lady i am so so sorry. I am thankful you had three that made it to freeze. Hang in there and stay positive. Was this your first BFP?

@texas-of course you can complain! Infertility is totally a complain-able subject! You have a good attitude about it though! Good luck! I pray you do not need IVF!

AFM- well NO MORE SHOTS! Wheeeeew! I took my last gonal-f last night and triggered at 9:30. I was so nervous that i was going to have to do and intramuscular injection but my nurse assured me mine would still be subcutaneous. Thank goodness! My stomach is so full and big i look six months pregnant. It feels almost hard too! I am nervous and excited for my retrieval tomorrow. I have never been put under before. We would love and appreciate good thoughts and prayers for a good numbers of eggs retrieved and hope to be frozen!!

Margie- I told my boss because I was taking so many days off to travel to the clinic and also because when we were close to ovulation i had to tell her I would need to take a day off but wasn't sure which one since it depended on positive OPK. I'm thankful my boss is a woman.

Lulu-thank you. I can't wait to see. Hoping we get good news! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. TTC is such a tough process. Fx you get your THB soon!

What cycle day do you normally do your IUI? I am on cycle day 9, and I have my ultrasound on Friday to check my follicle size (and that will be on cycle day 11) and then they wanted to do my insemination on Monday that would be cycle day 14- is that too late to do it? Last month I had my IUI on cycle day 11- was this too early? I am so confused?

I stopped using OPK's because they said they would go by my blood work and ultrasounds? I just don't want to do it wrong- since it clearly didn't work last month (I knew it wouldn't being the 1st one and all). I had my last dose of Femera yesterday so I am getting blood work done today to make sure my levels are good- but I was just curious. I am going to pick up some OPK's today after I get my blood work and use them, because this is making me VERY nervous!

Any thoughts or insights would be much appreciated ladies! :)

@adams- Your IUI will change each time depending on when you ovulate. My first one was on CD12 and my second was CD16 because i ovulated later. I would absolutely continue your OPKs though. I was told to use them and call with my first positive. I was not getting blood work though. Are you going every or every other day for blood work? that is the only way i can see them being able to use your blood work for ovulation. I would still use OPK's.

LS - good luck with your retrieval

Adamswife - hopefully this helps: Every month your body will react differently to the meds. So one month it might be CD11 another CD14. If you are doing bloodwork and ultrasound and they are watching you closely I would not do OPKs (only if they will do that almost everyday). If you go for ultrasound and they decide that your follicles are big enough and to trigger you should trigger that night or whatever time they tell you and have IUI done about 36 hours later (on average).
If you are not doing trigger shot then I would use OPKs everyday and I would call them if you got positive OPK to go in for IUI the next day.

If you get positive OPK you might be ovulating withing the next 24 hours - 48 hours so I would rather do IUI the next day then wait another day (so you don't miss it)
If you do trigger shot the trigger shot will release LH hormone and the next day when you wake up you will have positive OPK that is why it is perfectly fine to do IUI 36 hours after trigger shot.

so going back to ultrasounds and bloodwork - if they do bloodwork everyday they will be able to detect LH rise in your blood and will be able to schedule IUI on time

Just remember - you should have trigger shot first then IUI not the other way around.

I had my IUI on CD 15. I wonder if it was a day late? It was on a monday, and they triggered me Saturday night. But part of me wonders what if I had already started the ovulation process on my own without the trigger and ovulated on Sunday? oh well - we shall see.

Do you guys feel after you have an IUI like it didn't work/ Like for me I'm like well that probably didn't work. Maybe it's just being at this for so long or whatever. But I guess I feel like since we BD on Friday and then IUI on Monday, which might have been too late, and then BD on Tuesday that our chances are low. And just because the sperm was in my uterus doesn't necessarily mean anything. I guess it's good that we had at least two good follicles which on a normal month we wouldn't know. IDK.

As far as work, my boss definitely knows. He and I have a good relationship and I share things like that with him. He is very understanding (A dad of three daughters) and sensitive. So he knows and has seen me cry with my first miscarriage, when I found out about my brother's pregnancy, etc. So yeah, he knows. But I don't want everyone at work knowing. So when/if we do get pregnant I will ask him to not tell people.

AFM - 2 DPIUI, feeling a little cramp on right side - probably where that cyst is/was. I don't know if they just go away or what. Glad to be going forward in this process finally. One IUI done!

PS Our IUI was only $465. I paid around $135 for ovidrel and like $9 for my three clomid pills (I halved them). It looks like insurance is paying for my ultrasounds and appointments each month. Not sure if they will pay for this Friday's progesterone draw or the beta. But I think they will? Anyway, I'm very happy with that!

~K
