Hello Everyone.

Could anyone offer me some more insight into clomid please?

My fiancé and I have been ttc since December 2011 with no luck our mindset at this point in time is: "not trying, not preventing" but we want to look into our options.

My fiancés sister used clomid to help her get pregnant with her now 1year old daughter, but as she and I don't get along she isn't offering any advice/support.

So could any of you lovely ladies help this frustrated woman who feels like a failure out?

Courtly - Have you been to a doctor about your fertility and to have any preliminary tests done? Has your husband been tested? Those are the first steps before Clomid. Doctors recommend it for different reasons, but it basically helps you to ovulate. You take it for 5 days early in your cycle (your doc will tell you when, usually days 3-7 or 5-9), and it is supposed to help your body get moving. Some doctors also recommend limited cycles of use - mine said if it doesn't work after 3 cycles, she'll refer me to a specialist. Definitely talk to your doctor about options.

Mrs. K - I can't imagine it is every bad to orgasm! I've never heard of that interfering with ttc. Don't worry! And yes, just start your progesterone tonight.

As for me, I finally got my positive OPK! I was starting to get nervous. Never had one last cycle (first cycle on clomid), so I'm relieved!

Hi Ladies,
Well, I am feeling really out. Started spotting yesterday and have a feeling that AF might get me.

Since this is would be our third failed medicated cycle, I want to ask my fertility nurse if she has any additional steps that we can take. We've been trying for almost two years and got my PCOS diagnosis about 5 months ago, so I think it's time to start getting aggressive. I had a total breakdown last night after I noticed the spotting...this is really starting to take a toll on my emotions. My heart goes out to each and every woman who is on this journey. People truly don't understand how difficult it is to want something so deeply and to see so many people around you achieving it with so little effort or thought.

Here's my current situation: I have been on Metformin for insulin resistance for 4-5 months and I seem to ovulate on either Clomid or Femara based on my OPKs and temping, but haven't been monitored by ultrasound to see if the follicles look decent. We haven't yet done an HSG because of the cost...what is the likelihood of being cursed with both PCOS and blocked tubes? Hubby's count, motility and morphology are all within normal range, but not perfect and we've gotten him on amino acid supplements and we've both completely cut out alcohol. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome!

Thank you ladies for all of the support! Hugs and baby dust to everyone.

Ssurra - congrats on positive opk, things are moving in the right direction. GL this cycle and hope I hope that you see a BFP on a HPT in a few weeks

Lilith - my hospital doesn't ultrasound me, but I get 21 day progesterone blood test taken to see if I've ovulated. It's been done 4 times so far and nothing. This is my first cycle with clomid and I had day 21 bloods taken today, so waiting on the results (don't feel pregnant though so don't think it's worked this time). Can you ask for the blood test to see if things are actually working? I only ask because I've been using a clear blue fertility monitor for about a year and there were times on the monitor that said I was peaking but the blood test said No. Temping for me is sometimes all over the place and doesn't correspond with anything (but I still do it - even though I don't truly believe in it!) I've had an HSG, but in the UK it's all done on the NHS so there is no cost (having said that it may vary on what area you live in) - how much is it? It would be very unlucky to be PCOS and have both tubes blocked, but it would be a shame to go on down the road and then discover that was maybe what was doing it. Plus don't give up on the clomid just yet. If you've only had 3 cycles with it they can repeat for another 3 and maybe alter the dose again??
I sometimes think of big meltdowns as a cleansing process - you need to have them every so often, it's no good bottling up all the stress. Allow yourself to be sad, reach for the Ben and Jerrys and eat the whole lot! you've got sperm, you've got eggs, you've still got lots of options!

Ladies,

I had a scar this morning after doing the baby dance. About 2 hours later I used the bathroom and brown blood and pieces of tissue. Was on my tissue when I wiped of course I start freaking out I wanted to go to er. My Dh calmed me down and told me to wait till our doctors appointment in the morning I got on the net and researched that this not uncommon for the first trimester. That still didn't seal the deal till I talked to my doctor who was so comforting and knew we just had sex for this to happen once he explained I got a sigh of relief. I'm still want everything to get checked in the am.

Needed a outlet.

ssurra - I have been tested for PCOS and that came back clear. Hubby is still to be tested. My doctor has spoken of clomid being the next step we take as it does appear i'm only ovulating every 2-3 cycles.

With hubby having had 4 kids from 2 previous relationships it does look more like me with the problem. In my very early 20's (20 and 22 years old to be exact - am now 29) I had 2 ill-fated pregnancies I was 12-14 weeks with the first one when there was no heartbeat so I had an abortion to remove that. And the second one I had a fall at 10-12 weeks and had a bleed, ultrasound showed no heartbeat so again an abortion was performed. So I can get pregnant, it's just not happening after having been on depo for nearly 4 years.

Mrs K it's definitely okay to have sex and orgasm in the TWW and all through pregnancy. The only exception is if your doctor has given specific instructions not to do it. My friend's mother could not have sex her whole pregnancy with my friend because some condition she had that isn't common. So I'm pretty sure you're good. If not, then I'm totally screwed! No pun intended.....

Courtly I agree that getting your DH tested is essential. Then you can know more what's going on with that. Since you are ovulating only every 2-3 cycles, I think Clomid will definitely help! It's a simple and cheap treatment that gives a lot of women success :)

Aw, lilith, so sorry to hear that. I hope the witch is gentle with you and you have luck next cycle!

I'm having a really hard time today. It's definitely Baby Season on my Facebook. It totally sucks seeing tons of my friends post pictures at the hospital with their babies, and talking about how ecstatic they are... especially since 90% of these friends are on their second child. Especially since we started trying before any of these friends were even married (one couple hadn't even met yet). I hate infertility, I hate all of this pain, and I hate the waiting.
