Hey Amanda well I was going to a weight loss clinic where I was taking Phentermine which its a pill that cuts ur eating habits big time, Plus floriside (something like that) to eliminate all the excess water in ur body and a shot of amino acid. I've done this before in 2010 and lost 60 lb. Thanks to the weight loss my cycle has become regular now every 31 days. I am at 155lb and I am 5'3 from 222lb in 2010 so I am extremely happy. My body is so different now that's why I am hoping this is my month. : )

I'm also 5'3" not 222lbs but not 199 either and needing to drop some weight to hopefully help my cycle!

Hi everyone. I have a question...I am in my second cycle of ovulation induction with clomid and based on my estradiol levels it looks like I am gong to ovulate on CD 13 this time!! Last cycle with clomid I ovulated on CD17. i was under the impression that clomid would regulate my cycles but I haven't ovulated near CD13 in over a year (apart from the one cycle where I ovulated at CD9 and got pregnant, and then miscarried. Coincidence?). I am pretty excited by the change. I had expected something like this last month, but that cycle was identical to my previous non-clomid one!

mrsamandaervin it is exciting taking clomid, isn't it? It is great to have a simple tool to use which will hopefully help!!

conleykr2 how are you doing in your wait for ovulation? Are you being monitored or just charting for yourself?

Hi, shelob --

I sort of feel like doctors use clomid as a band-aid to just 'see if it works' before they really look into what our bodies need simply because statistics say it works.

I did 4 rounds of clomid, and on my 4th cycle I also ovulated on cd13 (my earliest ever, I too usually O between cd15-19), but did not get pregnant. I think that is because ovulating isn't my issue; I think I could have lining or luteal phase problems -- but we haven't arrived there yet.

I had to stop clomid due to a cyst, but still Oed on my own this cycle, around cd 16. My docs seemed happy with this.

So, to very long-windedly answer your question, Clomid does make you ovulate, and sometimes earlier, but not always. You'll see many women say that O later on clomid.

Either way, stay positive!! Changes are good in this journey. Good luck!

Thanks ssurra. It is great to hear other people's experiences on this medication. Sorry to hear you didn't get pregnant on your four rounds of clomid, but I think having the hormones boosting the system can still help longer term. Hope the cyst issue resolves itself. I hear they can be painful :(

I get that feeling about clomid too. I already ovulated on my own, but my fertility specialist said that he wanted to improve the number of times a year I ovulated to therefore increase chances of pregnancy. I had a scan during my first cycle on clomid so during that they saw my lining was fine. I chart BBT so I know I have no luteal phase issues. I had been worried about progesterone but they measure that at 7dpo on my clomid cycles and last time it wasz "fantastic" so don't think that was an issue. I just hope those statistics work for me regardless of why I have been having a problem getting pregnant.

Good luck to you too!!!

Ssura.. I haven't started taking it yet. I have my last Provera today and then have to wait for AF to show up. Then I start taking the Clomid on CD5. I so hope it works though!

Hello ladies,

I've been absent for a little while now. Has anyone got any good news or interesting facts to share?

I've been enjoying my time with my partner immensely, unfortunately he has to head back out west sooner than expected. But we're still hopeful considering we've been BD-ing everyday, but only time will tell.

I'm still praying to whoever will listen for an early O and that long awaited sticky bean this is my month

I was meant to be starting clomid for my next cycle, but my doctor isn't happy with my weight, so has asked me to try and loose 10-15kg (22-33lbs). So as of Monday, I'll be back on a 12 week challenge style weight-loss programme, aiming to loose 15kg (33lbs) this time round. Last time I did one of these I lost 10kg (22lbs).

**** WARNING RANT/PITY PARTY AHEAD ****

It annoys me how at 29 years old and 95kg (209.43lbs) my doctor considers me too heavy to get pregnant when I'm seeing girls as young as 16 and admitting to being 100kg+ (prior to getting pregnant) get pregnant the first time they ever have sex, waltzing in and out of the doctors surgery like they own the world.

I also find it hard to deal with people who, go on and on about how easy they found it to get pregnant, and tell me I'm clearly not doing it right if I'm not pregnant after ttc since December 2011.

And as happy as I am for EVERYONE 18+ getting pregnant, I always always always get upset and have a small piece of me break and/or die when I hear they got pregnant after just 6months or less of ttc.

I just want my BFP so bad. The only thing in live I ever wanted was to be a mummy, and it sucks that its not happening for me.

The longer I wait for my BFP, the more I wish I had put my life on the line to go through with my first ever pregnancy when I was 21, that little bean was due 13/08/2006. If everything went smoothly I would have a 7 year old by now, it would sure make the wait while ttc with my partner less painful.

**** RANT/PITY PARY OVER ****

Sorry about that. I needed to get it off my chest and, being fathers day here in Australia I can't talk about it with my partner as his having a hard time dealing with not seeing his kids (from previous relationships). Today I have been walking on eggshells tip-toeing through a mess of mouse traps and bear traps, not wanting to say or do anything to set him off and its taken its toll on me in a big way, bigger than I could have ever imagined.

Oh Courtley, this is a great place to get rants like that over. I hope you feel better for it. I SO understand too. My little sister is pregnant after her first month trying. I knew that would happen. Of course it would! We are into our 20th cycle now.

I have PCOS but am the skinny kind. When my doctor admitted I had it (initially diagnosed years ago at 19 so he didn't trust those ancient blood test results) she was a bit disappointed because she said the thing she would normally recommend for someone with PCOS struggling to get pregnant was to lose weight. But I have the opposite problem! One of my best friends was over 120kg and struggling to get pregnant. Her doctor said if she got down to 65kg then all her problems would go away and she would get pregnant immediately! She was rather annoyed as knew both I and another friend were not overweight and were really struggling so didn't think that was a fair comment.

It is Fathers day here in New Zealand too. When it was Mother's day I was really upset as the miscarriage had been so recent and I was so devastated I couldn't celebrate it as I should have been able to. Today wasn't that bad, and I think my husband coped well. I was still a bit sad though.

It really does suck, Courtly. There are no wires that can comfort any of us. Just that bright pink BFP. Tell me about your 12 week challenge to lose weight. I could use some tips! :)

Hugs to all that need it. I've been Mia for awhile, since I wasn't on clomid anymore. I've been waiting for my IVF cycle this month.

I'll be taking a detour though.

After 7 years of ttc #2, with two years of treatments, 10 IUI's and three losses last year, I got a big natural surprise this cycle.

It can happen. It really can.
