2017 IUI/IVF

Hey ladies! I have an 18 month old daughter from my 6th round of IVF back in 2014 and we have started the process of trying for baby #2 in 2017. We may do a couple IUI rounds before using our frozen embryos from 2014. Any ladies who will be doing IUI or IVF in the new year?

Big day today! Sending hugs and good thoughts to all of you! And I'm starting the crazy medicine today (Femera) - I hate it, I either cry for no reason or have NO patience. Feel bad for my husband and daughter. :/

Jandei - this will be our third IUI attempt. We started Femera and Trigger shots in December and just did timed intercourse December and January. When that didn't work we did IUI in Feb, April and now May. We have an appointment scheduled with the specialist to discuss next steps in case we aren't successful in May.

Hi ladies! Retrieval was this morning and I had 20 little eggs! Not sure yet how many are mature and fertilizable... they'll call me on Monday and then on Wednesday we will see how many grew and progressed so they can send calls for PGD. Retrieval went ok but I was in so much pain when I woke up! I needed both some IV morphine and oral norco but I'm feeling ok now.

Waiting to see how transfer went for Jandei and beta for ma_espe!!

Hey kmksmd : thanks for the retrieval update! Sorry to hear you woke up in so much pain! I've never done a retrieval. Is pain typical?

Kmk: great number!!! Hope you get many healthy embies!!! And hope you start recovering quick! :)
Dancemom: retreival wasn't overly painful for me.... I was unconfortable after it but nothing tylenol wouldn't take care off. It depends on each person. So don't get overly scared about it.

AFM beta came back at 1090!!!!!! First ultrasound is booked for May 10th. Hoping for a strong heartbeat then :)

Thank you kmk.... ultrasound will be May 10th. So excited and nervous at the same time. Last time I had one was bf I MC and there was the placenta with no baby :(. Hope to see one this time with a very strong heart beat!

ma_espe congrats on these awesome #s!!!! Again, for some reason not surprised lol Quick question, did you do bed rest after your transfer? How soon after did you resume to normal activities?

kmk - Congrats to you as well! great amount of eggs! This is where the exciting week starts. How many mature, how many fertilized, how many made made it to day 3 and then how many made it to day 5. You have that extra one I didn't have - PGD Sorry to hear you were in pain, hope you're feeling better.

dancemom - like ma_espe said, everyone is different. I didn''t have pain or spotting but was told it's to be expected. They gave me norco to take home but I didn't take it. No need to worry. It's more about watching yourself for weight gain and making sure you're urinating often.

writergirl, yea the meds make us all very moody lol do you know when your next IUI will be?

asf, nothing special. Transfer went well and much quicker than the last one which is good news. The catheter went in in a matter of seconds. Again I did acupuncture before and after and now just relaxing.

JANDEI glad everything went so fast for you. I didn't do any bed rest... dr told me no need and that it was actually good for me to walk obviously not a marathon. I did take it a bit more relaxed than usual.... but I still did my normal stuff... a few dishes cooking etc. I only lied down for medication (progesterone and estrace) and of course for sleeping.

My mid-cycle ultrasound is scheduled for a week from Monday. Thinking IUI will be Wednesday or Thursday of that week.

I'm struggling with the timing though and wonder if anyone has any insight. So my obgyn told me a while ago that you know when you ovulated because it happens 14 days before you start your period. So once you start your period you can count back and see. If that's true then I'm ovulating on cycle day 17 but we've done IUI on cycle day 15...are we doing it to early? But I'm also doing the trigger shot usually 24-48 hours before IUI so that should make me ovulate at the right time, right?! Ugh. I plan on talking to the specialist about the timing (different than my obgyn that told me the 14 day before thing) but wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

OK, I’m freaking out a little. I have been nauseous for about 5 hours and just threw up once. I’m still bloated (of course) but have been drinking gatorade on and off all afternoon. I weighed myself and gained 4 pounds since the night of trigger… but again I’ve been drinking fluids and got IV fluids today for retrieval. I obviously don’t have a way to check my blood sodium or my blood pressure at home. I’m worried about OHSS because of my high follicle/egg count… but the thing that makes it extra confusing is that DH is also throwing up but has diarrhea. Do I wait it out or go to the ER? My clinic is closed for the weekend.
