FET #2 - UPDATE

Cycle #39 started on Monday. I was totally caught off guard because I had just stopped the Prometrium the day before, so I thought Tuesday was probably the day. Hubby was a little upset because we didn't get to DTD before AF came lol, oh well. We talked about it, and decided that despite some other financial obligations we've had recently, we were going to go ahead with transfer #2. I called the clinic and told them that my cycle had started, so they scheduled for me to come in on cd 3 (yesterday). I went in for my baseline blood tests and ultrasound. They said that everything looked good, and we were good to go on a transfer this month. I started back on the estrogen tablets and patches last night. :)

As for the miscarriage panel that they ran on me last month, everything came back normal except for the MTHFR testing. I did have the two heterozygous gene mutations. She said that this was most likely not the cause of my early miscarriage, and they don't see any obvious reasons why I would not be able to have a healthy pregnancy this time. The only thing we have to do differently is I have to take a baby aspirin every day and I have to take a special type of folate twice a day because my body is unable to absorb the normal folate in vitamins, due to the MTHFR. She said it's very common, and not that big of a deal. About 40% of the population have the same mutations. If I'd gotten a copy of the genes from BOTH parents it may have been different, but I'm glad the treatment is that easy.

I will have the for sure transfer date on Monday when I go back, but for now it is tentatively set for Aug 23 or 24. I'm feeling a little bit nervous because I really want it to work this time, but now that we've got the process started, I'm starting to get excited again. I'm going to stay off of Google this time because it's just very stressful. Other people's stories are not your own, and you can't use that as a reference.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'll keep you all updated as I go along or we make changes. As always, I'm thinking of you all and pray that we all get our sweet bundles soon.

UPDATE: Thought I'd just put a little update on here instead of writing a whole other JE. Everything is going really well. I'm taking the minimum amount of meds this time, and my body is responding beautifully. Yesterday my lining was already over 11mm, so already thicker than it was on my transfer day last time. We are transferring one embryo next Wednesday Aug 23. I'm getting more and more excited, and the apprehension is fading. I'll update again next week after the transfer. :)

Are you going to transfer 1 or 2 embryo's? Do they think there is a higher chance with 2?

We are only going to transfer 1. I was going back and forth, but I talked to the nurse about it again yesterday and she said, in reality, transferring two does not increase your chances of pregnancy that much, but does increase your chance of twins by a lot. She said it increases your chance of a pregnancy by about 5%, but increases your chance of twins by about 40%. I do not want twins this first time around, so we're sticking with one.

Newlyjg, thank you! You know I'm always keeping my fingers crossed for you too. Chad's morphology has actually improved a little, so I know it's possible!

Sandy, she's fine thanks. She's crazy and bouncing off the walls like normal again lol. We are very hopeful that this will finally work out for us this cycle.

Tracy, I was surprised too, how quickly my cycles returned to normal. I did ovulate about 5 days later than I normally would, but my LP and everything was pretty normal. Thank you for the well wishes. If we do actually get a sticky one, we will be due in May and get our "May-by" that you and I joked about a couple years ago. I hope that you and I both end up with a May-by in 2018. Good luck girl.
