40+ TTC in 2015

Hello,
I had to scroll through so many pages to find recent ladies who are TTC and decided to open a new thread for 2015. This should make it easier to find friends and buddies who are going through the same emotional roller coaster of TTC in their 40's.
Is it worth opening a new thread monthly to keep it current?
Would also like to wish everyone the best of luck, the more people that get a BFP gives the rest of us hope so please don't forget to post.

Kerzie,

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I'm very sorry to hear about AF after implantation signs for you. Have you tried acupuncture? Seems to be good results for luteal phase defects when I Googled around a bit. I did it for a couple of months and quite quickly my chart went from a see-saw pattern to the perfect chart. I stopped going when we found out DH had male factor, as I (stupidly, I think) figured he was the only problem! I think I will go again. I'm now realizing that this may not happen for us and I'm willing to pull out all the stops. Can't believe I was so casual before.

I too felt what I thought was implantation this month. It felt like when I got my IUD inserted - very painful and sharp, actually—but passed quickly. I've never felt that before. My temp stayed at 98.1 all the way through day 12, which is a first for me. On day 13 it dropped to 97.6. That is actually still fairly high for my luteal phase, I am a cold fish! Then, suddenly, AF . I hadn't had any of my usual signs: no tender breasts, no moodiness, there was zero warning of AF on the way. I really had my hopes up.

No, I haven't found a specialist. I am not really sure of the success rates of IUI when I keep researching it. I am not sure it makes sense for us, if I ovulate regularly? I'm very torn.

I also take B6, as everyone has recommended to you. I would try that and think about acupuncture (if you don't already do it.)

Quick question, if anyone is reading this far! Do you think drinking coffee makes a difference at all? I have a pretty intense job but I try to limit to 120mg in espresso in the morning, as I read 200mg was the cut off, but I sometimes have a second in the afternoon. Research seems mixed on its effect on conception for women... (DH drinks around 6 cups and I REALLY wish he would cut back....).

to everyone.

Thanks Kerzie for the info. I'm keeping my for you this month. It's awesome that you have lengthened your cycle already. If you don't mind me asking, what helped in that area? I'm pretty open to trying just about anything.

Mozrt, I will be thinking of you and sending your way over the next few days. I hope the trigger goes well and you catch one of those lovely 3 eggies! Will your IUI be Thursday then?

Franny, I am sorry to hear that the showed for you. I know exactly how you feel, when you think that you felt implantation and then she shows her ugly face. I've felt really good about the last 2 months trying, only to be disappointed.

AFM - had some spotting when I wiped this morning. Not a full AF but she's definitely on her way I'm afraid. Temp was back up a tiny bit, but this month seems to be another failure. Which, unfortunately is what I feel like. Like I recently read, getting pregnant naturally at my age is like single handedly winning the megamillions jackpot.

I hope you ladies all see your 's very soon. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

xoxo - Pix

hello all !!

Welcome to the group Pixa.. glad to have you and your great energy!
Sorry you are feeling down .. BIG HUG!! I wish you the best!

Big welcome to you too Donna! I know exactly what you mean when you found out your surprise Aug 2014. I had the exact thing happen.

Mozart, FX for you and your IUI

Franny, I've read and wondered the same thing about coffee. I just decided to leave it out completely. Once a week I might have a cup of decaf or a black tea, but for the most part I figured none is better than the back and forth of yes its ok, no its not. Good luck!

Kerzie, have you tried Progesterone, or had it tested? I take 1 100mg tab from 1dpo to 14dpo if test is still neg then I stop. I've heard good things about B6 making the phase longer.

Afm- af came a few days late. I normally 28 dc and this one was 34. which I'm sure was from the mc. In looking at the last mc in Oct 2014 it was also 36 days. Today I am CD9 .. and of course I have to travel for work on CD14-17 so not holding onto much hope this cycle.

Mozart, I like that "blizzard of baby dust" ! :)

Hello ladies! I'm sorry I haven't been on this thread until today as I've been sooo busy. All I've been able to do is log on long enough to record my temps and that's it. LOL I don't know about you, but I'm fatigued. I don't know if it's the time change (I'm in OH), the weather changing or the progesterone. LOL Currently I'm on CD17, 7DPO. I'm ever hopeful. We are going it naturally. Yes, we had 2 failed IUI's (which I didn't know if they increased our chances anyway since my dh numbers are great and I ovulate regularly)... no IVF for us. I just started drinking green tea (about 2 cups a day) as I've heard that may also help.

Pixandpoetry - I'm with you girl... 46 years old and my dh is 44. We have an 8 yr old and want another with everything we have!!! We had a friend get-together last night and my son played with a 1 year old that he said he just 'loved'. AWWW... too precious. So we are praying that we will be blessed with another.

Sending all of you tons of baby dust and sticky vibes!

BabyAngel, so glad you are back. Green Tea is a great antioxidant - watch out for the caffeine though. May be drink the decaf variety.
Franny16, it's best to cut out caffeine - IMO. We are already struggling with conception so why consume something that adds a burden to the body. Caffeine taxes the adrenal glands and those we need to take care of while TTC.
HCG trigger shot for me tonight. IUIs tomorrow and on Friday morning. 3 follicles - 2 at 20mm, 1 at 18.5mm. Hoping for the best, feeling relaxed and confident, prepared for any outcome.
My love to all.

BabyAngelG - I know exactly how you feel about the time change! I was totally wiped out during my TWW (I live in MI). I'm glad to have a fellow midwesterner to chat with. I'm wishing you tons of and keeping my during your TWW.

Mozart - Go catch those eggies girl! We'll be thinking of you.

Talula - Thanks for the hugs, and some right back at you! Sorry you have to travel during what might be your fertile window. But you never know, your body might shift it one way or another to be accomodating.

Kerzie - Hope all is going well! I've been thinking about taking B6 again, I thought it actually shortened my cycle, but I didn't take it with B12. Does anyone know exactly what doses work best? Just another thing to keep me occupied on Google....LOL.

Franny - I love my coffee, and I only give it up during the TWW because I heard it hampers implantation. Not sure if that is true. I also have cut way back during the rest of my cycle and try to limit it to 1 cup every other day at most. Who knows really??

AFM- Exactly as I figured the was here first thing this morning. Actually, it's kind of refreshing to have a 12 day LP, yay! And AF seems to have started without all of the spotting nonsense I have had beforehand in the past. I'm feeling much better today. Will be looking into Ubiquinol and B6/B12 this month, does anyone have any info they can share?
Big and to us all this month!

Pixandpoetry,
Ubiquinol: 600 mg daily, taken in 3 doses/200 mg each
Take a vit B complex and in addition 100 mg B6. Those vitamins work best in combination. Give it a try!

Thanks Mozart - I'm definitely going to try them out. If I can add another day to my LP perhaps I can up the odds! I hope your IUI's go smoothly and in 2 weeks you'll have some great news!

Mozart - How did things go? I am wishing you all the best this cycle and sending you extra sprinkles of !

How is everyone else? Any fun plans for this weekend??

Random thought: Has everyone had their vitamin D checked? I read that something crazy like 67% of infertile women have low vitamin D. And something else like women with adequate vitamin D levels were twice as likely to conceive.

I had mine checked and it was way below the low point on the scale. Even with taking 5000IU per day for three months, I am still quite low, but not like before. I am nowhere near the midpoint on the scale. Food for thought!
