40+ TTC in 2015

Hello,
I had to scroll through so many pages to find recent ladies who are TTC and decided to open a new thread for 2015. This should make it easier to find friends and buddies who are going through the same emotional roller coaster of TTC in their 40's.
Is it worth opening a new thread monthly to keep it current?
Would also like to wish everyone the best of luck, the more people that get a BFP gives the rest of us hope so please don't forget to post.
Baby dust to all ????

Hello ladies,

Well.. I am back on the site, we made it 53 days (same as last mc). Doctor says its most likely the result of just simply poor egg quality. We dont seem to have any trouble getting pregnant, only getting them to stick.
She is really urging us to look into the IVF, especially since I've just celebrated my 43rd birthday. (I dont feel as old as my eggs are) ;)
After reading what you all have been through and opinions, I am starting to consider the IVF, where I wasn't before because it seems to happen pretty easily for us. I dont know...
I just keep holding onto the "its gotta work eventually right??" and maybe I'm just setting us up for failure. I need a crystal ball.

Hugs to all

41 and TTC#2 (2 Failed IUIs)

Hi Ladies! I am 41 and I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years now. My daughter (age 5) was conceived with the assistance of Clomid. I have had two failed IUIs and I am battling the insurance company to receive authorization on IVF. They requested that I complete a CLomid Challenge Test, which I have passed and now they are refusing to pay. I am on my TWW and Aunt Flo is due on October 14th. DH and I are praying that we are blessed with a BFP this month. Prayers and Blessings to all. Thanks for your support and allowing me to join the group!

Hi all,

I am 41 and trying to conceive #1. We've been trying for 11 months with no luck. I use a clearblue fertility monitor plus OPK sticks and just started trying preseed. My tests are all normal and it seems I have regular cycles and am ovulating regularly. I'm about to turn 42 next month and am feeling a little hopeless. My husband (43) has a great count but very low morphology and low motility. He also travels a lot for work so we often do not get more than one shot at it... Anyway, I guess if it is meant to be, it will be!

Good luck to all of you!

Hi Jack,
There are a lot of supplements that can help men with healthier sperm, might be worth having a Google. I'm starting a new thread about fertility aids, supplements, vits and what they can improve/help with so if I find anything I will post it.
The tww is the most frustrating time of the month, I think it's because we can't do anything but wait. I'm 10DPO today and fed up, I've been doing this for a year but until recently I had a short luteal phase so my chances are hopefully increasing. I know it's hard to put it out of your mind and the forum really helps to cope with it all. We are want the same thing so feel free to rant and rave until you feel better.
Best of luck xx

Kerzie, thanks so much for your thoughtful reply! Congrats on your longer luteal phase. :)

I have him on vitamins E, selenium, B12, folic acid, zinc, C, CoQ10, L-arginine and a multi. 3 months in and a 9% change in motiliy (still well under normal) but no change in morphology. I am hoping to find someone to give him an antibiotic, as I was told by the lab tech it could be bacterial. We cannot afford a specialist so fingers are crossed that my regular doctor will prescribe something. Supposedly Doxycycline is the way to go.

Good luck and baby dust to all!

P.S. Depressing but changed my username as it seems no Jack in 2015 was meant to be...

Hi Kerzie,
Just circling back to you.....no luck at my end yet, now on cycle #31 - insane.
I am looking forward to the thread on vitamins and supplements that you mentioned earlier. I will give feedback as I am taking a multitude of different things, some more known than others. May be we can get a list together that will help others. CD8 for me, next ultrasound and blood test on Monday. Hoping for at least 1 good-looking follicle. Best wishes to all.

Hi,

Tatula - Sorry about your Loss.

Hi everyone else:
I am 45 and trying for no. 3. I have diabetes (on insulin) - very well controlled and Hypothyroid. I had my first girl at 38 and my second at 42. If I have another I will be 45.

I conceived on cycle before last (I can tell as my blood sugars go crazy in early pregnancy), but lost it, and got my period 2 weeks late. Then I got Dengue fever and was in the hospital for 8 days, lost 6 kg from being sick. Also had bleeding from the dengue, including vaginal. That cycle was 6 weeks long.

This cycle I used femara 10 mcg/day from day 2 -6. Day 7 did one shot of follistim. Day 8 did ultrasound and there was 1 follicle at 18.5 x 20. So I did not do the second vial of follistim and did gonal-f trigger instead. Did IUI last Friday evening (Day 9), and now am day 4 of the waiting game. DH has gone from teratospermatoa to Normal sperm. He is 54. What did he do? 1. He stopped getting flu shots (it has aluminium and other preservatives that can be toxic), he lost weight, he eats very healthy now (no more diet drinks) and he exercises. He takes a whole handful of supplements.

Day 4 today and my blood sugars are now officially crazy again. This means that I have conceived. However, if that translates to a viable pregnancy still remains to be see. I cannot test until about DPO11 (follistim should be out of my system). that will be on the 20th.

I exercise moderately nearly every day, and take vitamin e, vitamin c, Vitamin D3/K2, dhea, macca, coQ10, astaxanthin..... Heres to hoping and praying.... as we all are

Hello everyone! I am new here and am so happy to have stumbled upon a website like this! I am 43 y.o. and have been TTC since my last miscarriage in January. I'm looking forward to this wonderful journey with new friends!

Super_Sally, wow what a time you have had! Let's hope this is the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I hope you have a sticky wee bean and you post the good news to us in a couple of days. Please keep us updated on your journey.

Lolo, welcome and best wishes, let's hope it is a short journey ttc! What CD/DPO are you on? I'm now 8DPO so af is finally done and I can start practicing the bd again (grin). I started my journey Sep 2014 but only actively started trying (taking supplements and vits) 4 month's ago, this month I'm also using preseed with softcups. Figure the longer things are held in place, the better my chances.
Best of luck to everyone xx

Franny 16. I updated my other thread (fertility aids, vitamins and supplements) as I realised that men need just as much help and advice. One supplement popped out at me and made me think of you, it's called PYCONOGENOL. It improves sperm morphology by up to 40% I have wrote a full list of things men can take to improve their sperm and it might be worth you having a look, you might be able to add to it which would be great.
Best of luck xx
