Spironolactone and Metformin

My doctor put me on these two medications today. Has anyone else taken these 2 together? What were the side effects? And did you conceive while taking them? I just read that Spironolactone can cause birth defects in male fetus's. If this is true why did my doc give it to me when I'm ttc?

I also am on these medicines for PCOS. My doctor took me off the bc, but I was unaware of all the side effects when ttc. Also, it can give u false negatives so u could be unaware, even if u are pregnant.
