I don't track but according to my app I was fertile on the 20th. We BD on the 21st. How would I count my DPO?

You can't really know your true DPO if you haven't confirmed ovulation. Apps just guess based on default settings and your average cycle. If it gives you an O day and you want to trust that, every day after that is a DPO. So from the 20th you would be about 11dpo today.
