I have a question concerning Low Progesterone and Progesterone cream?
I think I may have low Prog levels! I really thought I was preggo this month! :-/ While I always see a little spotting a couple days before, this cycle I started to spot very heavily , but it was dark brown, on cd 23 and lasted till I started bleeding heavy on cd 28. They did a pcos panel with prog included in that, but have never did those tests at certain times of the month to see if levels were right. My question is, if I started using prog cream, would it completely mess up my hormones and cycles! This month is aweful, I feel like I've been out of commision in the bedroom for a month. While that may be exagerated, by the time its over it will have been 11 days since heavy spotting began.... Dont know whatto do? I have syptoms of low progesterone as well, the spotting being the biggest indicator.

I had my prog checked about 7-8 DPO this spring and I was on the lower side of normal. My midwife suggested supplementing with OTC prog cream (I use Emerita brand, 1/4 tsp twice a day starting 1DPO). I didn't have a short LP or any other problems, just not getting pregnant. I will say that increasing your prog levels will sometimes exaggerate symptoms you could confuse with pregnancy so you can psyche yourself up. I also don't have a problem of it delaying AF, it comes as expected, some women do. You can talk to your doctor about it but my midwife basically said it won't hurt anything - it helps you in early pregnancy. You want to make sure you're applying it every 12-13 hours otherwise your levels start to drop. If you do get a BFP don't stop it until you see your doctor, if you stop it can cause a MC. There's also only certain places you should apply it... You can do more research if you decide to use it.
