When DO I count the start of my cycle?

I had some light spotting before AF came on fully about 24 hours later, should i consider that as AF? or the day it come on fully?

in medical world they consider the first day of your period the first day you bleed a heavy flow

My doctor's office considers it to be the first day that you are at full flow before 11am
