Beta is in reference to the beta HCG - it is the quantitative amount of HCG in your blood draw- so it tells you the exact amount of HCG in your blood. You can use it to track trends and to give you an idea of how your pregnancy is progressing.

Basia: beta is a quantitative hcg level that your doctor should have you get once you get a bfp. It measures the amount of hcg in your blood. And to ensure you are progressing healthily, the number should double in 48-72hrs. Even with my mc in Oct, my doc is comfortable with booking my beta tests a week apart. I would be a bit more relieved to see a number tomorrow or Fri. But doctor's orders!

While- so sorry you feel so down hun. Where i.work there has been 12 pregnant in 3 years. Not counting ladies who have become grannys in that time, or the men that have become daddys. Everyone is having kids left right and centre. Its about half and half with planned and accidental. Does frustrate me. But one good thing is both me and another young girl from work are both trying. We are conception buddies, get to discuss things with her which is nice.

I am in the UK, stormy flooded south coast, we are getting battered at the moment!! Its horrible. Almost 6pm here.

Well one of my af symptoms is here. Im being such a horrible person to my bf. He had to put the phone down on me earlier, i was almost screaming at him. One the second time in 4 years he's had to do that. Obviously it made me even angrier. I apologized to him when he got home an he understood. Bless his heart, i am truly blessed to have such a kind soul in my life.

We will see... Niggling little dull cramp in my abdomen. Feels lie witch is gonna land her broomstick any moment!!

@Basia - Yes - beta numbers measure the HCG levels in the blood. As far as OPK testing goes - what times of day are you testing? I remembered that testing in the morning for those wasn't ideal, so I did some research and one place says 10 am - 8:00pm is the best, with 2:00-2:30 as supposedly the ideal time. I think testing too early or late in the day can skew things? I don't know if you had heard that as well?

I did read the same thing. starting around CD13 I test 2x a day. One before or during work and one in the afternoon.
I got whole bunch of cheap OPKs on the internet so I don't care if I use them 1 or 2x a day :)

I hope I will get a positive one in the afternoon.

My body temperature went down and I read that it usually happens before ovulation. So hopefully I will be ovulating tomorrow or Friday.

I have not tested yet. I dont want to see the BFN. Haha. Im trying to hold out a few more days in case my ov date is wrong. AF is supposed to come the 10th. Hoping she's a no show. :)

From what I've read, a significant temp rise is an indication that ovulation has occurred. The uterus is warming up for the egg

GB - i think blushing?? has PCOS? mine isn't confirmed, only suspected, so we aren't doing anything technically, unless taking the clomid counts, but that's done with many conditions. and it's still early, hope you get a BFP!!

gds - that's an awesome valentine's present to have the U/S that day!!! hope it goes well! how excited were your boys to know????

floz - you're among friends when you are part crazy and sassy ;) unfortunately i have no input on quitting cigarettes, the important part is you're working on it! hope AF doesn't show in a few days!! GL with patience to wait on testing!

bella - that's kinda nice you could just get a blood hcg done, you doing another in a couple days to make sure it increased nicely? baby dust!!

basia - hope you get your positive opk soon! and hope the doc appt goes well! after you ovulate temp will increase. where you ovulate from (spot on the ovary) becomes the corpus luteum which makes the progesterone, which 'warms' the body.

while - hope you get a positive opk tomorrow! it's so difficult when a good friend tells you they're pregnant. you truly are happy for them, but at the same time insanely jealous that they got pregnant asap and it's just not working for us!! baby dust to you!

AFM, CD7, just took my last dose of clomid. plan is to have a follicle scan on CD12. Will O hopefully around CD15. GL to everyone testing!!! FX'd for more BFP's!!!
