Basia - That sounds like something they sould do for any couple undergoing fertility treatment. I'm pretty sure all of the drugs screw around with emotions.
BabyPath - I hope that the IVF cycle goes well for you. I'm sure they'll monitor you pretty closely so that you don't get OHSS.

BabyPath - Ganirelix sucks - I mean it is a good drug but it will sting a bit. I'm in a process of getting my drugs :) I am changing the procedure a bit this time and will use Lupron instead of Ganirelix.
Also (if not yet) you will get super bloated so I would recommend drinking a lot of Gatorade - it is suppose to help with OHSS - it worked for me. They told me to eat salty food and drink lots of Gatorade and stay away from drinking water.

Thank you Margie!
Basia - I remember some previous posts from you saying the gani burns. Is this one also injected into the stomach?
Does the bloating happen regardless of OHSS? My AMH level (5.2) makes me believe I will be at risk for this (somewhere I read this) so I am definitely keeping everything crossed that between the monitoring and now my salty food and Gatorade diet, I'll be fine :)

BabyPath - yes you will be bloated before the trigger shot bc your ovaries get bigger and bigger everyday (more follicles and bigger follicles). The OHSS can happen when you do trigger shot (HCG shot). I had mild case and was uncomfortable and that happens a lot - you don't need to worry about that. When you get super uncomfortable and it starts to hurt and you start gaining a lot of weight and don't feel good that is when you need to worry about it.
I did Ganirelix injections into my stomach.
I should probably add that not all girls get bloated and some don't really feel the effect of FSH shots (Follistim) but I did for sure. My pents were tight

Basia - Glad you're getting your meds soon and are starting your month!! My clinic also has couples go in to meet with a psychologist before IVF, we have our appt next week.
BabyPath - I was on Follistim last month for an IUI cycle but started on a really low dose (only 42u) I ended up increasing to 100u. My AMH is 24 so they didn't want to overstimulate either, but I only ever had one follicle. I'm learning that even with a good AMH, bodies all respond very differently to the medications. Also--IUI dosing is way different as they really don't want you to have a bunch of follicles.
I found the injections to be not bad at all (but I hear gani can be the one that stings). I rotated the site (on my stomach). I really found that if you jab it in quickly and then slow inject it really helps. That's what I tell my nursing students - Quick IN, Slow Inject. Especially since some of the meds are coming out of the fridge you'll get a little sting or feel something cold if you inject the med quickly.

Welcome BabyPath! When I began injections, the first few days it took forever to get up the courage to stick myself. Each day and each cycle I get a little quicker and a little better with less bruising, Good luck and I'll add you to my prayers.
Thank goodness for Gatorade and salty foods! I typically drink 120oz of water a day, but after I was so uncomfortable and bloated this weekend after my IUI, I picked up Gatorade this morning and am feeling much better already. My breasts are super sore and my nipples are so sensitive I can feel the through my shirt and bra! Hoping all these little things are good signs. I won't let myself go near the pregnancy test section of stores because I'm a complete POAS addict. Since I triggered Friday, I'm counting Saturday as O day. 3DPO and just waiting.... Come on sticky bean!!!
Good Luck with the IVf consult!
Praying for y'all :)

While -- hope your consult goes well--let us know how it goes.
Random, crazy update. So it looks like this "cyst/follicle" is really a follicle. I started to surge, so to time it perfectly they told me to take Ovidrel. It looks like I'll have IUI tomorrow morning! Way crazy turn of events. Hoping this time is higher chance as I am not ovulating from the side of my endometrioma (which previously had always ovulated from), so ovulating from my "healthy" ovary :) Fingers crossed for a better DH count tomorrow.
