OPK's never did these before-not sure what to look for?

So I read the instructions, but I'm at the end of AF and I want to test from today until I see my LH surge...when the lines are darker than the test line is THAT when there's a surge? If it's light what does that mean????/

You will always have some level of lh in your body through out the month it's when it rises/spikes is when you will ovulate within 12-36 hours. The test line can be darker or the same color as the control line to be positive.
