So glad to hear you had such a good appointment! Maybe you are going to have a big baby like me! Haha. Trust me it will fly bye and you will be asking yourself how am I already halfway there?! Where has the time gone?!
Today I turn 25 weeks and I'm getting really close to my third trimester. It is scary and exciting at the same time. My baby weighs about 2 lbs now and I wouldn't be surprised if he is a bit over that at my appointment next week. I am having my glucose test done Thursday as well as an ultrasound to check on my placenta. Since its anterior they want to see exactly where it is and see if it has moved. Some new things I have been feeling this week is I can definitely tell my baby is running out of room in there. He is big enough that I can feel it several times a day when he moves into a certain position. It feels like something pushing against your insides and you can feel and sometimes see a big hard lump. He also kicks a lot more instead of one kick then another kick I can feel him moving multiple body parts at the same time. We have started to get his room set up and my husband reads to him almost every night so the baby can hear his voice haha. He reacts and wakes up to loud noises now or temperature change like when I drink a glass of cold water he will kick away from it.
On the not so good side I had a cavity before pregnancy and since pregnancy weakens your teeth I somehow managed to bite into something hard in just the right way that it cracked my tooth at the cavity all the way down to the nerve and it's not a good thing and it's painful. I went to my dentist today and he is sending me for emergency oral surgery to get a root canal done on my tooth in the next few days. I was reassured it is safe for the baby and they give you a special kind of novicane that is pregnancy safe during the surgery. I am still nervous but the doctor told me it's much worse to not get it fixed because it could get infected and spread to the baby.
So how are you feeling lately? Are you feeling any kicks or flutters yet? Do you plan to find out the sex of your baby?

Hi! I am feeling great today. The sun is shining and it is warm, which it hasn't been for a while (winter here). Nausea is definitely almost a thing of the past. Tummy is getting big!!!

I haven't been sure about feeling anything yet. The way everyone describes the feelings is just the same as things happening in the bowel. I have lots of that going on so there is no way at this point to distinguish any slight baby movements. I was trying to remember was it round 16-17 weeks you first felt movements? With the anterior placenta they say it often takes longer so I will not be worried about being unsure of movements for a while yet.

That tooth issues sounds awful! I don't think they would advise doing the surgery on it unless they were sure that was the best and safest option. I hate having things done to my teeth while are close to the nerves. SOOOO painful. I had a dental hygeinist appointment the other week and my teeth and gums are in good health so I shouldn't need anything done for another year or so.

Mmmm sitting in the sun is making me feel so sleepy! I might read and have a nap!!! I have been very productive doing washing this morning (taking advantage of the good weather!) One load was even hand washing! Feels good to get that sorted. There are so many items of clothing I am now having to put away. I can't do up my cardigans now without the buttons straining! Stockings are really too tight for comfort. I love my changing shape though! It is so novel to me to have all these curves, very prominent ones too!!!

So glad to hear you are doing well!! You are getting right along in weeks!
I was 16 weeks when I felt the first movements. Im not sure if it was just early movements or the fact I have an anterior placenta but they felt nothing like bowel movements to me but thats how i have heard them described as well. They felt like tickles. Like when someone drags their finger down your arm really lightly and it makes the hair on your arm stand up...kinda like that. It definitely was a tickle feeling. I felt them VERY randomly at first I'd feel them one day then go a few days without feeling them. Then very slowly they turned into little taps kinda felt like bubbles but I only felt them super low like the cervix area. Maybe because its more sensitive there? Then about 20 weeks they were more like kicks and got more regular. And I felt them most days but it wouldn't be abnormal to go a day or two without feeling them. Now I feel them very regularly that just started this week. I can feel when he balls himself up and kicking and hitting and hiccups. But them never felt like bowel feelings to me. Like I said it might be because of the placenta or something. There really isn't a good way to describe the feeling other than when you feel it, you will just know. I am excited to hear all about your first kicks!! :]
My best Friend just found out she is pregnant with her third kid, so that's exciting. We will be a little more than 20 weeks apart. And I have the cutest little round belly now. There is no mistaking anymore that I'm pregnant haha. I just love seeing my baby bump in dresses and tighter fitting skirts. I even get complements when I go out in public. People tell me I have the cutest little bump and that I'm all belly. It is so flattering to hear and I get the biggest smile! I absolutely love everything about being pregnant. The good and the bad, I feel like it is all the biggest blessing!
Glad you are starting to get some warmer weather. We are about to start winter here and since we live in the north east of the country it starts getting colder here first. My due date is November 6th and I wouldn't be surprised if there is snow all over the ground! haha

Big news in the baby development department - I can feel him/her!!!!! Started feeling odd little muscle spasm/quivvers three days ago (18 weeks 1 day). I hadn't noticed that feeling ever before so I started getting suspicioous after it happened a few times during the day. Then yesterday it got much more obvious, and more frequent. Happened every time I sneezed, and if I shift position in bed, and sometimes just randomly. So now I comment on what the baby is doing to my husband. It is so much fun having an interactive baby!!! It certainly makes it more real and exciting!!!

Along with that I have developed heartburn and a varicose vein... All these body changes!!! I am slightly bemused that one day I can point to the vein and say to my child "that appeared the day after I first felt you move".

That is so cool that you have a friend who is also pregnant :) I have a friend who is 5 weeks ahead of me, but I don't get to see her much. She is having a VERY busy life at the moment so hasn't been hanging around with our group of friends much for a while. And she just moved a bit further away so that doesn't help! A colleague was pregnant a few months ago but lost the baby early on. It seems like everyone was pregnant right when I miscarried last year, and now there are not so many! (I think I counted over 20 I knew of at one point).

Any new developments for you? Are you still feeling energetic or are you slowing down somewhat? I plan to be working up to ~36 weeks so I am keen to know when to expect to be feeling tired again!!!

Congrats on feeling those first movements!! It really is such a wonderful thing and makes everything so much more real! Those little movements will keep getting stronger and stronger and you will start to feel them more often! Everyone said that with an anterior placenta I wouldn't feel much, I'm sure there is a lot I don't feel but I don't feel like I'm missing out. I feel him so often now that I'm used to it and don't even notice it every time. He is starting to get so strong too! Some of his punches and kicks make me jump and sometimes he will kick my bladder so hard and I will say ow! out loud and not even realize it. He also likes to ball up and stick his butt out so my stomach will get all hard and misshapen and you can feel his individual body parts.

Sorry it took me a while to answer we have been going through a tough two weeks. At his 26 week ultrasound to check on my placenta the doctor noticed some extra fluid in one of the ventricles in his brain. They then sent me to a high risk doctor at a special childrens hospital to see if there was any damage. It was a long two week wait for that appointment and we didn't know anything other than what we could look up on the internet. Well we finally had the appointment to check on my baby yesterday. They gave me an hour long ultrasound looking and measuring all of the structures in his brain and they checked all of his organs and even did an echo on his heart. The end result was that they think he will be just fine. He does have a little extra fluid but not enough to cause any concern. The rest of his brain structures looked just fine and his heart echo and organ check came back perfect. They are still going to send me to have an MRI to just double check but they all seemed pretty confident that he will be a happy healthy little boy! He weighs 2lbs 12oz which is 1.25 kg if i converted that correctly haha and he was busy playing and grabbing a hold of his umbilical cord during the scan.

To answer your question, it's tough to say haha. I am in my 3rd trimester now at 28 weeks and I go back and fourth. I think my tiredness level has to do with when the baby is going through a growth spurt. A few weeks ago I was always exhausted and had to have a nap in the afternoon but now im feeling pretty good during the day. the biggest problem that I'm having is that since I am so tall and skinny that I am all belly with this baby, even now in the third trimester I still carry all the pregnancy weight in my bump. So my groin and inner thighs have been hurting pretty bad lately from all of the weight from my baby. I bought a belly support band that I definitely recommend once you start getting bigger. It goes underneath your bump and around your back to help lift and support all of the extra weight and I can tell a difference in my legs on days that I do and don't wear it. So I think as long as you will have the option of sitting down at work you will be just fine. If you end up having to stand most of the day you might get more tired and achy in your legs back and feet

Hi!!!! Sorry I haven't written in a while. Been feeling a bit out of energy. But very happy! Movements happening more frequently and more strongly. I love it!!! We had a scan yesterday and everything that could be measured looked good. Baby still a few days or a week ahead of schedule in growth. As long as I can still push it out!!!!!!!

That potential issue with the ventricle fluid flow must have been scary :( I don't know how I would have coped with them telling us there were any problems. Hopefully all is perfectly normal and proceeds well from now on. I just told myself that however the baby is, there is nothing we can do to change it so just hope for the best and deal with any problems if they eventuate! Sounds like they were good and thorough though. Did you have the MRI?

I think I must be getting pretty comfortable with the idea that I really am having a baby as now I am thinking about the birth! That might have been spurred on by my reaching that section in the pregnancy book! I am pleased I know a lot more about labour now, it was a complete unknown. I wasn't worrying about it at all before. Not so much worrying now, just preparing myself mentally.

Other preparations I have done: booked childbirth education classes, booked breastfeeding class, booked parenting class for newborn-6 weeks. All of them are free so that's good! Hopefully they don't overlap too much as the classes will run when I am further along and will be bigger and tireder I suspect. I haven't bought anything as I don't have the energy to work out what I need. I also have a sister who will be giving me lots of things and I don't know for sure what. I will also plan to have a baby shower at some point further down the line, so probably best to wait until after that before paying out money in case I get double ups! I figure as baby is due in the new year I could perhaps get things in post-christmas sales too. Of course I will be huge and tired at that point, but I really don't know what that feels like. Might be nice to have something to distract me then too.

I love all these plans and preparations. eels great to have something so momentous to look forward to. You must be 3o weeoks now. Crazy! Only 10 to go!!!!! :)

So glad you are starting to feel more consistent movements! It is so exciting to feel them wiggling around :] Its nice that you are being so proactive about the labor and delivery process. I have to say as it gets closer I am getting a little more nervous. I'm nervous about the pain but in the end I know holding my little baby will make it worth it! I went to the book store and bought a bunch of educational books on birth through the first 6 months and I have been reading them. On the 9th my husband and I are going on a tour or the hospital and birthing center where we get to see the delivery and postpartum rooms as well as the nicu and nursery and it will be a good time for us to ask all of our questions and to see where our baby will be born!! The childbirth classes where we are are expensive and unfortunately dont work well with our schedules but our hospital does offer a lactation consultant after birth and free classes every week if you are having trouble.

Once I had my appointment at the childrens hospital the specialists and my regular doctor both seemed like they weren't concerned anymore. The ventricle on one side was still slightly enlarged but not big enough that they think it will pose a problem. They are going to keep monitoring it every month to make sure it doesnt get larger. Since they didn't seem concerned I decided to not do the MRI. If they found something on the mri they wouldnt be able to do anything until he was born anyway and I dont want to consume my last 10 weeks with constant worry. I also don't want to put my baby in a big magnetic machine if it isnt necessary so I decided to just continue with the scans and monitor it that way. At my appointment last week we got to see what he looks like! And he looks just like his daddy haha. He is also a big boy! He already weighed 4 pounds!! And is supposed to gain half a pound a week until delivery. So he can easily be a 10 pound baby! Which is intimidating because I am rather thin and small framed!

I am feeling better than when I last messaged you. I still have my energy throughout the day but depending on the baby's position no matter what I do I'll get out of breath over the smallest things. The doctor said he is head down already so to might be his feet up near my lungs. I still have the groin pain from the weight of my new belly but nothing that is hindering I still go walk a mile or two everyday at the park!! I am still measuring two weeks ahead and they are considering moving my due date from nov 6th to october 22 :] I tried to add a link to a picture of my ultrasound so you can see it it should be right here >> User Image

That is a great picture!!! Some of them look really scary, but that one just looks like a baby! How cool :) That is amazing to think you only have 10 weeks to go. Time is flying now! I still have just over 18 weeks to go. Hmm, I like the counting down thing, makes it seem even closer! That is crazy that they are thinking of moving your due date that much! I can't remember but when did he start measuring big for his age?

I think that is very sensible not doing the MRI. If it won't actually help anything why do it?

That's a shame you don't have access to free courses. We are very fortunate with our healthcare system over here. All maternity stuff is free. But I am sure the internet is full of helpfull videos to take you through it!

We will do a tour of the hospital at some point too, much close to the time though.

We have our next midwife appointment tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing how much I have grown. I don't trust my scales at home to tell me such things!

Hi there! Long time no hear, I hope everything is going okay.

My news is that I have developed gestational diabetes!!!! It feels a little unfair since I eat really healthily and in the weeks prior to the test had actually cut down on anything even remotely sugary like cakes and biscuits, icecream, even juice. I didn't have a huge amount of any of those (except icecream which we ate every night) but now I get serious food envy when others eat such banned substances. I have cut down on potatos as well because although I LOVE them they are very high GI so bad for diabetics. Of course, now I eel hungry and it is not too long since we ate dinner! I have an appointment at the hospital coming up next week where I will get a glucose monitor and be taught how to manage my diabetes. I hope they tell me I can eat some of the carbohydrates I cut out. We will take a food diary along so they know what we are already doing. Stupid genetics (father, grandfather and great grandmother all have/had diabetes, and an aunt got gestational diabetes.

So much movement going on inside me these days! I was sitting there fascinated in the middle of the day when he/she was going crazy with the biggest movements I have seen yet. All over my tummy it was wobbling like crazy for about 10 minutes, and it is pretty firm so a lot of force had to have caused it! I am 25 weeks today so baby will be a pretty decent size (and bigger due to the sugar I have been feeding him/her!)

I would really love to hear how you are going!!!! You must be getting pretty close to the end...

Hi! Sorry it has taken me awhile to respond, we have been having a hectic, up and down, few weeks. Sorry to hear you failed your glucose test! I failed my first one hour test but I passed the follow up three hour test they do. And my baby is bigggg! They are thinking about making me retake the glucose test but at this point I'm not sure how much it will help since I'm at the end. He is expected to be a 10lb baby by his due date which is crazy because I'm so skinny! Watching carbohydrates has really made me realize that they are in everything so much! I agree with you that it is tough!!

I am 34 weeks now! The baby is measuring about 36 or 37 weeks. He is still head down and his head is so far down into my pelvis they had trouble seeing it on ultrasound! Which means he's ready for his birthday! Just here recently the pregnancy has started effecting me more. I can have a full nights sleep and be exhausted by the time my husband gets home from work. And I can't walk long distances anymore, the baby will wedge himself into my pelvis and make it so I can't even walk haha! They are still watching his development in his brain and I ended up having to get that mri. I will get the results tomorrow. I also have a doctor's appointment tomorrow where we will discuss when the baby arrive since he is so big. We also recently toured the hospital where I will deliver and saw the nicu and the labor and delivery rooms and recovery rooms. It was great to be able to see where I'll be soon! :) well that's just about all that's been going on on my end! I'll update you tomorrow after I get my results. How all is well with you!
