30 + and TTC Your 1st Child

View Full Post

Hi girls!
I've been on this site for a few months now and decided I needed to make friends! I got married about 9 months ago and will be 30 this year. We will be ttc our first child this coming Fall (if it won't take us by surprise and I conceive earlier), and heard that it can take up to one year for a healthy couple... My mom keeps saying that it is late for the first baby but the rest of the world says it's about the right time (age 30).
Any suggestions, advice, and just discussion with you girls who conceived at age 30+ or is ttc at this age right now will be appreciated! :)

Hi everyone, im new to this site to :), im 33 and my fiance is 50, we've been together for 11 years now, talked about having kids but never really did anything about it as i saw a doctor who tried saying i had pcos, anyway i wasnt happy with the outcome and deeply felt i didn't have it so i got a second opinion from another doctor who actually sent me for a scan and didn't just diagnose me via bloods, well the scan came back saying i had 7 follicles on each ovary and to be considered with having pcos u needed to have between 10 to 12 follicles on each ovary, when i got the results back it said in bold writing that i didn't have it, this new doctor i saw also did bloods again and they to came back normal so pcos has definitely been ruled out, when the first doctor diagnosed me by bloods he gave us a referral to see a fertility specialist which was a waste of $200 only to be told i was too fat for treatment, i ended up leaving there in tears and feeling so low and down graded. i worked hard at losing some weight and lost nearly 7 kilos, my sister then got hold of me and told me about soy isoflavones which is like clomid but natural, i read up about them and decided to give them a go, i started taking them in December 2012 on our first cycle of trying, and bang fell pregnant straight away, i was getting early symptoms and got an early positive pregnancy test, but then all my symptoms started to disappear and my tests then became negative, so i went to the doctors and he confirmed i was pregnant but was having a miscarriage, so in January this year i lost my baby, we decided to leave it a few months so my body could get back to normal before trying again, well we decided to try again this month and its now the day my period is due and no sign of it coming so im hoping im pregnant again and that this one sticks, took a test this morning but it was negative so gonna wait a few more days and take another one, Ive been getting nausea, feeling tired, headaches, weird dreams at the beginning of the week, and since yesterday afternoon i have been peeing alot more, didn't use the soy isoflavones this month so i ovulated on my own, sorry for the life long story Baby dust to all, if anyone would like to add me as a friend please feel free to or ask any questions please dont be shy :)

@vanrit, CONGRATS!!! :D So happy for you. I think that most of the time, when we are about to lose hope, miracles happen! So... never give up hope, ladies!

@zia2mama lol. your post made me smile. Hang in there! Just wait till your expected period, don't fret. It should happen soon. Congrats on your 30th B-day! Mine is in August and it's crazy! When I was a kid I thought I'd have kids already!
Um... as for me... AF showed up like 3 days ago ha! It's okay, because it was the first cycle we didn't use protection around O and we didn't plan to BD to conceive. This cycle we gonna BD for real lol, we'll see what happens! I also heard that if you BD every other day you get more chance of conceiving rather than focusing on O day... Baby dust! :D

Hi ladies! I love this site, but never really post much other than my HPT tests because I always see something and my husband thinks I am color blind. I'm 33, husband is 31 and have been TTC since Aug 2012 when we were married. I've asked my doctor to run tests just to make sure everything is working like it should, but she said we have to wait a year, ugh. Anyhow, I thought it was time to join my first board and wish all of you BFPs!!!

@mcleod_girl,
thanks for sharing your story!
I'm sorry about your negative experience with that doctor. It's always good to check with another doctor, good job.
Let us know how it goes this time! Are you gonna take HPT?

@texcal2009,
yeah, they say to wait a year... But every time AF comes it seems like it's been eternity huh! lol
My friend just told me she is pregnant, and they haven't tried for too long, maybe for a month or two. And I have some other friends who didn't really try hard and ta-da! were pregnant. I don't know why it's taking so long for many women - the forums I read, etc - so discouraging!
My DH and I just started trying, more like go with the flow and see what happens. This cycle is the second cycle we don't use protection anymore. I hope it won't take too long!!!
Baby dust! :)

I just read a cool article about trying to conceive and focusing on "perfect" timing during the cycle, and I must tell you, girls... Just DO IT. lol Meaning, don't stress too much about being able to BD right before or on ovulation day, but rather DO IT often enough! 3 times a week...??? Some women get pregnant by having intercourse even during their period, or right after. I think a lot of us focus too much on that specific big O day. Who knows, maybe that's why it's taking so long! Just a thought! :) You never know! Miracles happen :)
Baby Dust, ladies!

How is it going for everyone? Any BFPs???

I'm going to test this cycle. I usually wait for AF to come even when it's late, but this time I'm going to test. I have one HPT in my closet. lol Better use it, I guess.
