30 + and TTC Your 1st Child
Hi girls!
I've been on this site for a few months now and decided I needed to make friends! I got married about 9 months ago and will be 30 this year. We will be ttc our first child this coming Fall (if it won't take us by surprise and I conceive earlier), and heard that it can take up to one year for a healthy couple... My mom keeps saying that it is late for the first baby but the rest of the world says it's about the right time (age 30).
Any suggestions, advice, and just discussion with you girls who conceived at age 30+ or is ttc at this age right now will be appreciated! :)

Hi, I'm another newbie
I'm 35, been married for 4 and a half years and we've been ttc since about april last year.
I was told in 2004 that children weren't possible due to chemotherapy I had for leukaemia. However, in 2007 I had the worst surprise of my life when I found out I could, I was but I had lost it all in the space of 10 seconds at the emergency department at the hospital. Awful!!
Because of that we started using protection as I couldn't bear going through something like that again so soon plus I had only been with my future husband for a year at that point. I haven't bothered taking the pill since chemo as I have taken enough pills to last me a lifetime and didn't want anything else interfering with any potential plans for the future. We stopped 'practicing' (lol) about last april/may and due to not wanting to get hopes up too much have been 'not trying, not preventing' until a couple of months ago.
So, today my period is due and no sign of it! I am usually have a 29 day cycle on the dot but over the last couple of months something strange has been happening. December I was two days early with 27 days, January I was two days late (for the first time ever! at 31 days. This month I have had so many strange symptoms that I have never had before I just feel so confident that I am pregnant it's unnerving! lol
Tested this morning, BFN :( However, I am going to test again on day 31 (when it turned up last month) and then every couple of days until I'm a week over. If I don't get a BFP by then I'm going to the doctors to demand a blood test. I never take no for an answer when it comes to doctors and hospitals.
Good luck to all you other 30 somethings and I hope we all get a BFP soon!!! :)

Thought I would check in with how it's going my end.
As of today, I'm potentially 9 dates late. I say potentiall as when I was 4 days late, last thing at night I started to 'spot'. That lasted about 2 days and now nothing.
My 'normal' cycle consists of stomach cramps the day before, light bleeding then full on for 4 days then it peters out on the last day. So a 5-6 day period. This month is definately not a 'normal' period. For one thing, my cramps and other symptoms have been going on for the last 2 weeks. Now the mysterious phantom 'period' is over they are still very much here!!
Went to the doc on Friday (who was also pregnant, maybe it's a sign lol) and she said to wait another week and test again as it may be too early. At least she didn't say there was no chance of me being pregnant and to still hold out for some hope.
Typically I've been scouring the internet for women who ended up being pregnant after something like this and not finding out until they were days past their period due date. The longest I found was someone not getting a positive until they were 12 days overdue!!
It's now Sunday and I don't know if I can hold out til Friday when the doctor suggested. For one thing if I'm not I want to improve my chances this cycle but both me and DH are a bit worried that if we do BD and I am then we might make something go wrong!! We had a miscarriage about 5 years ago but we didn't even know we were pregnant, let alone that we could conceive. We've decided to test on Tuesday then Friday as a last ditch effort.
Sorry for rambling, just need to get this out of my head as it's driving me bonkers! lol.
Anyone else had this happen to them?
