I have a few questions for anyone who has seen their doctor for some testing: I have an appointment with my regular OBGYN tomorrow. When I made the appointment, it was for my yearly, since I assumed my new cycle had started and was overdue for the exam. But since I'm still feeling weird like something isn't quite right yet, I'm hoping to be able to do some tests. I'm bringing last month's chart plus what I have so far this month, plus a list of my current symptoms that are concerning.

HPT is still coming up negative. If my cycle didn't start, I would be 16DPO today - which should be plenty of time for a positive to show. Do I ask for a blood draw for HcG anyway?

Should I ask for FSH test too? I see a lot you have said you were tested CD3, but I'll be CD7 tomorrow - is it too late, or can that be tested still?

Do I ask for an ultrasound, or would it be impossible to see if there is a pregnancy or if it is ectopic yet?

If there is possibly a luteal phase defect (last luteal phase was either 8 or 10 days, which I know 10 is on the border of being acceptable and 8 is too short), what do I ask to have this tested or what can be done to elongate it?

Will my regular OBGYN do all of this, or will he refer me to a fertility specialist?

Sorry for the litany of questions - I really didn't expect to have to go through all of this just yet. But I know some of you have gone through it, and I'd like to have some questions in mind (that maybe I don't already have) just in case I need to ask them.

Hi Genie, I don't know the answer to most of your questions, but I think there's no harm in asking for an HCG test if you're late. As for being concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, I believe those still show up as positive pregnancy tests. Good luck tomorrow!

Bammom, Super big hugs and please know you are not alone. I am 16 dpo, took a test this evening and the line was as faint as it was 10 dpo :(. My only hope is, I have been drinking a ton of water for the past 6 days or so (unusually thirsty). Maybe we have diluted urine and that is causing it!?!?! I am praying that is the case for both of us.

Genie, they will watch the numbers to see if they indicate concern for ectopic, they do the first u/s to check for ectopic at 5 weeks for me. That is the earliest they will find it in the tube. FX and praying for you.

AFM, 16 dpo, bbs are sore and nauseous to no end, oh and super exhausted. However, the test this evening (I know I should of waited for fmu) at 11 mins was just a faint line. I am super nervous to get my betas done tomorrow. This is going to be the determining factor. If you are a praying person, please take a moment and pray that my numbers are where they need to be. Big hugs and loads of baby dust to you all.

As for me, boobs sore, back and legs are killing me, 11DPO, spent the day outside mushroom picking and trying to distract myself, I am so scarred to test with all the negatives since January, going to wait until AF is due.

Genie, my advice is tell the doc all your symptoms and they will requests for whatever makes most sense. Some drs are more aggressive than others. Some will request many different tests and others won't. Definitely mention your short luteal phases bc they can easily be corrected with progesterone. If something the Dr says or does doesn't make sense ask bc I felt like that and confused and if I had just opened my mouth. Good luck tomorrow.

@Genie: I agree with pbc. Sorry I can't be much help, but If I were you I would definitely tell your doctor all your symptoms and the tests you want or think you need done and they can tell you when you need to schedule them.

AFM: Nothing new to report today. Temp was still up this morning, but no other symptoms. Was going to test tomorrow, but I really just don't feel like this is our month, so I'm just going to wait for AF, which should be Wed or Thurs.

AFM: CD1 ladies. Bleeding started a little after midnight. I'm going to temp again just to keep my mind busy even though I decided in the end of last month to quit. I was originally doing it to confirm that I ovulate at all, not really when I ovulate. This month it's all about something to keep me from thinking about last month too much. I feel better now that the bleeding started, like I'm not in limbo waiting for something I dread. It's all about the future! Maybe I'll have a July baby. DH's birthday is July 8th, maybe we can give him one heck of a birthday present next year

felurian - she posted a journal entry saying she was disappointed at some reactions/feedbacks so she wasn't using the forums anymore, just the journal. She did tell me she tested a few days ago and it was a BFN, so she's retesting Tuesday.
