About this symptom
Sore Throat
While not typically thought of as a symptom of early pregnancy, a sore throat and other “cold-like” symptoms are often reported by women in early pregnancy. Increased mucous production caused by pregnancy hormones and increased blood flow in the body causes the blood vessels in the nose to swell which can lead to runny and stuffy noses, and post nasal drip which can lead to coughing and irritation in the throat.
