So the first injection of Follistim is in :) I actually asked my husband to do it for me. They don't hurt but mentally it is very difficult to stab myself in the stomach with a needle. oh well... one down and probably 10+ more to go :)
Hope all of you are doing great

Essemkay - good luck girl. Hopefully you will see that BFP on Tuesday

@Basia - yeah no joke! I may have my friend who's a nurse give me the shot. Idk if I want to risk DH doing it.

Okay, everyone! I got pricing info on IUI.

Here's the lowdown at my clinic:

$250 - Baseline Ultrasound
$375 - Mid Cycle Ultrasound and bloodworm
$50ish - meds
$80ish - trigger shot
$465 - IUI (includes sperm washing)
$100 - progesterone test (I'm guessing they will do with my history)
? - progesterone supplement

So, all of that is around $1320. I may need another ultrasound in there which would obviously make it more. But that's not bad at all. Sorry I was so off before!

Other news, DH had his SA today. We are going in on Thursday for our education with our nurse. And today they needed copies of my last pap, my blood type, and to know if I am immune to rubella. I hadn't ever been tested on the rubella thing, so now I need to go get that lab drawn. Whew! Lots of prep work.

So, one lab, education Thursday, hopefully will have DH's results next Friday, and then we wait for my cycle to start in early February! (-:

In other news, today is CD 8. Would be nice to get pregnant without the IUI. (-:

OH! Ps on Thursday we should find out our protocol - like which meds our RE chooses for us. I'm anxious to see what he chooses.

Oka one more thing - i see a RX for a zpak in my patient portal. Does anyone usually get a Rx like this for an IUI?

A Z-pak is an antibiotic. Can't imagine why that would be for fertility. Perhaps it's left over from a previous illness?

While - no idea what that is and why they would use it. Give them a call if you think it might be a misteake

My RE has both parties take an antibiotic course once a year at the same time. There's some bug that can be passed back and forth through sexual contact that can hinder fertility (can't remember the details), so they have both partners start with a clean slate, so to speak.

Yes, @essemkay, it appears that's the case. Want to make sure there is no virus. They do it I think every six months. I will ask to see how mandatory it is.

a zpak because they are entering your uterus and it increases risk for infection so they have you take prophylactic antibiotics, same concept of why you get antibiotics before surgery. did it both for my hsg and for my egg retrieval. and iui is kind of like an hsg without the xray.
