Hey guys! I am such a dork. I kept checking the December board and then I was like DUH and of course, here you all are. lol.

We had our RE appointment today. So.... he is redoing DH's sperm analysis since it's been a while and then checking my FSH. We had our blood drawn today and DH sperm analysis is next week. Once all that comes back we will do patient education and are considering doing an IUI next month.

What do you ladies think about the financial aspect of it all? I'm struggling with it a bit. I know every story is unique. For us, we were previously able to get pregnant in 3, 6, and 4 months. This time we are starting cycle 7 and still no pregnancy. Ou RE wants to do some IUIs. I think each IUI will be around 2-3k. We are going to have potentially around 7K to spend, including 2K on a Flex card. We were going to put our money toward my car and toward ovens we are working to get. So obviously I would choose a baby over those things, but it's hard because IUI's are a crapshoot. Like, I don't know if it will even work for us. And what if we were just more patient and it happened on our own, you know? I guess I"m having a hard time figuring out if we should wait longer or do the IUI. We have been trying for over two years and and IUI sounds like a great idea but at the same time I don't want to do something for instant gratification sake. I am sure you ladies struggle with the money stuff, too. What do you think about it?

Ugh I wish this were easier!

~K

While - why is it so expensive? Is that number including drugs? And if yes... What kind?
I know a girl who did iui without insurance and I am pretty sure it was less expensive

Here, if you have no fertility insurance coverage, IUI is $1,800 plus meds.

Here the IUI's were $400 each. Plus meds but those were covered under my work benefits. How much does IVF cost for everyone else? I have to say I find it interesting that you have to pay for donor sperm. Is it the same if you need donor eggs? Can someone "gift" you the sperm or eggs?

I am a little odd compared to most of these amazing women here. I am single and so I am using a sperm bank. But it works for me.:)

Okay it may be closer to $1500. But it varies. They charge I believe 300-400 per ultrasound. That doesn't include actual IUI or meds and then I think optional spermicide washing is like $150 or something. Do you guys do that? So I guess in theory if I only had 2 ultrasounds it could be $1500 or so. I need to get more info on pricing I think. My friend has PCOS and has the same doctor as me but I am pretty positive hers will have been more than mine because of all of the ultrasounds and potentially extra meds. Maybe I will call them and ask about pricing.
