Private Testers Support Group Part 3!

A "secret" group for a not-secretly awesome group of ladies. :)

As I said in the last thread, I'm CD 9 and nothing exciting is happening, unless you count patchy depression and seasonal affective disorder "exciting" :-/

@law: You are NOT a bad wife! You wait on your dh hand and foot while going to law school and being pg! That is gift enough yet you are getting him a dslr?! Those are crazy expensive but well worth the money - they take awesome pics. We love ours. Rella is a pretty good sleeper. At this stage they have to be fed at least every three hours. At night I always have to wake her up to feed.. She could go on sleeping if I'd let her. Not sure how long though. If she's gained the right amount of weight at her next doctor's appointment I'll start letting her go four hours at a time during the night.

@1st: Sounds like you are having a rather enjoyable pregnancy! People always told me I looked small too. Maybe it's a good thing though cause I ended up with only hairline stretch marks on my hips and thighs - none on my belly and none of the thick dark ones. Maybe you'll be lucky like me!

@blue: hopefully no one calls you into work. You need a break! I'm getting sleep.. Just not a lot. I'm learning to feel rejuvenated off of 2 hours of sleep though.

@amag: 10 eggs!? That is awesome! Can't wait to hear how many fertilize! So I'm guess in you'll freeze the ones that aren't implanted then right? So if it doesn't work this cycle (which it will!!!!) you won't have to retrieve more you can just use a frozen one right?

@cam: I too am praying its your time!! I hope your two hour shift went by quickly!

@Jlhart: woohoo!! Awesome you are getting into the RE so quickly!!! Can't wait to hear your plan!! Too bad dh is apprehensive about the appointment. He'll be fine though.

@luv: hopefully this will be your last cycle on meds but if you do need another I'd definitely try letrozole. It's an oral medication and its super cheap especially if you get it at Costco. And you don't need to be a member to use their pharmacy!!!

AFM: had just finished feeding Rella but then she had a huge spit up :( it went all over her night clothes so I had to change her. I'm feeding her again now to settle her. Poor thing worked so hard only to spit it up. I think my milk supply did increase some with the fenugreek. Not a lot but some. My boobs hurt right before I feed her now and when I hand express they sometime spray whereas they'd just dribble before. Praying my supply continues to increase!!

SMH--thanks hun. That makes me feel good. Yeah, the DSLR was pretty pricey but I figure it will get a lot of use--it will certainly pay off in the long run. Yay for milk! that must make you so happy! How often does Rella have appointments? Are they checking on you too or are you already good to go? did you BP go down?

Luv--thick thick thick. I hope your lining is nice and plump. They can give you progesterone to thicken your lining if it turns out that it is too thin. That's one benefit of going to the RE. I wonder if you could convince them to do an u/s so that you know how thick it is. If it's too thin you could ask for crinone or progesterone suppositories. Just a thought.

Jada--yay yay yay! So happy you're going to the RE. You must be excited!

1st--I bet you are tiny. I feel pretty darn big most of the time ...especially if I'm full. My belly button even sticks out all the time. lol. I get the ligament pains when I change positions while sleeping mostly but it's not consistent. How's your sleeping? I find myself wanting to sleep on my back and I don't know if it's legitimately bad or just a "we don't recommend it" kind of bad.

blue--I hope no one calls you. You can use the rest! I hope this tww goes by quickly for you!

amag--hope you're feeling better this morning and I can't wait to hear how many fertilize. Fingers crossed for you that it's almost all of them!

afm--I got the camera yesterday and we went out for sushi--I had a couple pieces of raw fish and the rest of the stuff was cooked (cooked shrimp, edamame, and cooked red snapper) now I'm feeling rather paranoid. DH said it would be no big deal + I wanted it so I ate it and now I'm kind of freaked out but not obsessively so. I bought him a 10 pack of socks for work, cookies and cream kisses, a car air freshener and a birthday card that's "to dad" and he almost started crying. It was cute. We're not doing much really today but we will go to this burger place that he likes, then to this orchard/farm place that has lots of fresh produce, and I'll make him steak and mashed potatoes for dinner with asparagus or something like that.

hey ladies , so i got the call from the ivf nurse this morning and i am in total shock!! All 10 eggs that were retreived were perfect mature eggs and all 10 fertilized. the nurse said thats almost unheard of. very rare that there is not at least one that didnt. But we also did ICSI which puts the sperm in each egg which highers the odds too..

SMH: Thank you so much for you support and you are correct. We will only be implanting one embryo at a time the remaining will be frozen to use on subsequent tries without having to go through the retreival again. DH and i have discussed it and decided if we go through all ten unsuccessfully we most like will not do it again. I think we have a fairly good chance of it working within ten times. Although if it doesnt work for the first couple we may up it and do two embryos which will shrink it down to 6 attempts but i am keeping my spirits high that it will work with the first or second attempt.!! Glad your milk supply is coming in a little better now. Hoping Rella gains the weight she needs and you will be able to stretch it a little longer. I used to hate having to wake up my neices or nephews to feed when they were that small and i would watch them. They just look so peaceful when they sleep.

Law: sounds like you have a great day planned for your DH!! That card sounds so sweet i think even the toughest guy who has been through TTC would tear up from something like that. At least i know mine would...lol

Luv: I never thought of the letrozole. that would be great for you if your lining doesnt start to thicken with being on the clomid. and i think it does come in tablet form as well...Plus i was just reading a little article about it on google because i was curious about it and it said that it may be a better option than clomid for women with PCOS however it hasnt been used as much as clomid so there arent enough studies to actually prove that. interesting but if things do not work out this cycle i would definately ask your dr about it.

JADA: so glad to hear you are going to the RE!! My DH was not very excited about going at the beginning either. mainly because i think he was afraid to find out if there was something wrong with his swimmers. sounds like your DH could be OK though if he has two other children, but i guess you never know things can change for them if there are any changes in health or new medications. Hopefully they will be able to give you some answers though. I know my Dh is baffaled because there is really no reason we are having such a hard time on our own other than he has low morphology. Which our dr. explained doesnt mean we couldnt get pregnant on our own it just could take a lot longer or it could happen right away. For us though its been two years so we needed to get things going!! Good luck hope you will be able to find out some answers and soon!!

AFM: i am feeling a lot better today. a little crampy but the Dr. said that is normal. she said if needed i can take something for it either the percocet that was proscribed for me or tylenol / ibuprofen as needed. i took a couple tylenol last night just so wouldnt have to worry about it but feel fine so i dont think i will take anything today unless it gets bad. I am over the moon elated how many embryos we have and cant wait to implant later this week. My Dh was telling me how awful he felt when he seen me knocked out with the iv...lol He was so nervous. I guess i woke up pretty quickly and right away but i dont remember anything from like the first 15-20 min i was awake. Apparently seeing i have a normal low blood pressure to begin with , with the meds i was extremely low and looked pretty white and i wasnt talking. As i did start to come around i started crying. all i remember is when i started to come around being very disoriented for a little while and then i remembered where i was and why and i calmed down. Not too bad of an experience for someone who never had and IV before. although apparently my veins in my hand were too small to advance the needle in all the way so the RN used my vein in the crook of my elbow. Other than that not a bad experience and the whole staff in the IVF suite that we dealt with was just terrific.

Hey ladies,

Replied earlier, lost it, decided to come back LOL.

Law, sounds like you had a great time with the hubby!!! I love the card idea, I wanted to do the same. Hopefully it will happen before Father's Day?!

SMH, happy to hear the milk is coming in and you are rested afer 2 hours! I am sure you were able to comfort her, but sorry to hear she was sick :(

AFM, I am excited the appointment tomorrow and it is confirmed. I think the hubby is coming around, we did the paperwork last night. We will see what happens tomorrow...pray for me!

JLH no problem hun! I definitely think going to the RE is a good idea. It could be as simple as taking a medication or something. If your husband's sperm are great you probably won't need IUI either! Glad you went through the questions and he's okay with them...I think men are just reluctant to discuss "down there" stuff. It took a LOT of convincing for me to get my DH in for some Cialis.

SMH thanks girl I will definitely ask about letrozole! I have a theory about this whole lining thing that I will get into a bit later in the post. I am so glad your milk production has improved!! Poor little Rella though, it would not be fun to barf up everything you just ate :( (I know spit up isn't technically "barf" but it's close enough LOL)

lawbride I didn't even think about how progesterone helps thicken lining, I thought it was mostly estrogen? But the doc said my high progesterone at 7 DPO indicates that my lining gets thick enough so there must be something to that! I have a theory I will say a bit later. I don't think you should worry too much about the sushi, I think they just want pregnant women to be paranoid about getting food-borne illnesses but most sashimi is perfectly disease-free! Hope your DH's bday is going well! The stuff you have planned sounds awesome!

amag thanks for the tip on letrozole too! I will definitely ask about it :) So glad you were okay during/after the egg retrieval! Sounds like a bit of a trial but you made it through and won't have to do it again! Especially with 10 fertilized eggs, that is amazing!!! My friend IRL who is doing IVF had 8 and they said that is a really high number :) Thrilled for you and can't wait for your implantation and BFP! How long do they make you wait to test after the transfer?

AFM CD 14 and it's going fine! After 3 days on Colace I am finally producing some bowel movements, praise the lord. Still haven't gotten my blood results back so I called the doc and left a message, hopefully I'll hear back today!

Anyway I said I had a theory about my lining, and that is this: Clomid works by immediately inhibiting estrogen while you're taking it, and it continues to work that way for a few days before your estrogen rises to make up for the "deficit" you create. So if I take Clomid CD 3-7, then my u/s on CD 9 would of course still show a thin lining because the estrogen is still blocked and it couldn't do its work. The doc told me that my high progesterone at 7 DPO indicates that my lining DOES get thick enough, so I'm not sure what the balance of hormones involved are. I definitely want to get an u/s when I go in for my IUI and make sure it's at least a few mm thicker. Do any of you ladies know how much more the lining thickens after ovulation? I don't know much about this because I didn't think I had to before :-P

Amag, We must have posted at the same time. Ohhhh I am SO happy for you and that is AWESOME!!!! Thank you for sharing your story as who knows what my future holds. I can't wait to hear how it progresses and I pray that it will happen for you the first time and if down the road a sibiling is in the picture you are set to go :) Congrats again.

My DH had a SA and it came back good...so hopefully moving forward that will ease his mind in whatever he may have to do. I will keep y'all posted though!

Speak of the devil, I just got a call from my doc office, my TSH levels are 1.5 which is good! So clearly my PCO are not affecting my thyroid. My cholesterol and glucose are good too but that's not particularly relevant :)

Law: The "recommendation" that you not sleep on your back is coming from the fact that there is a blood vessel which becomes compromised by the baby's weight while you are on your back and this therefore slows the blood flow to the heart and the baby. So it can be dangerous to sleep on your back for extended periods. The recommendation is that you lay on your left side. A body pillow may help.

Jada: So happy for you that the man's swimmers are doing good.

Cam: Hope this tww ends in a bfp for you.

Luv, Blue, SMH, 1stTTC, good morning!

Amag: Woot woot...eggs galore! Congrats!!

Hope I didn't miss anyone..sorry

AFM: Went to the OB yesterday as planned. What they found is nothing that should kill me soon, however, I have to do a liquid pap in another month to see if the cells have cleared or have gotten worse. If they have gotten worse, then it's on to a colposcopy. Sadâ?¦I knowâ?¦

luv: I believe they had said about 9 days after transfer I will do a blood test to test for pregnancy. so we will be finding out at the very beginning of april at the latest. I am super excited about it but also kinda scared to find out but I guess we will have to just wait and see and cross our fingers..Your theory does make sense I know your lining can get pretty thick. At my last ultrasound mine was about 12mm thick. but I was also on on the stimulation meds as well and I don't know what role that usually plays. If it does affect the uterine lining that much they may also suggest to put you on estrogen and progesterone after ovulation too. That's what I am on now and they do it just to help support the lining and increase your chances of it sticking.

Amag--woohoo! That's fantastic news. I am beyond ecstatic for you. Yay yay yay! I hope this is your month. That would be so so so great! And thank you....I think he's having a good bday so far. I think as you get older birthdays are just anticlimactic for the most part but I always want them to be a big deal so I feel bad when it's not.

Luv--I took crinone which plumps the lining--it's a progesterone cream. Some people take estrogen though. I think both hormones actually assist with that but it would probably make sense to do estrogen since that's the hormone that's suppressed from clomid. I'm not sure how quickly it thickens. Here's a bit of info on progesterone though... http://fertilitydr.com/progesterone-parlodel.html

janise--thanks girlie. I'm not sure the baby weighs enough to cause any issues. I read that your blood pressure drops and you get light headed/short of breath but that doesn't seem to happen. I usually fall asleep on my side but at some point I must flip over because I do end up on my back fairly frequently. I can't really help it since I'm asleep, ya know?

jada--I hope you do too! When is father's day anyway? I seriously have no clue about father's day or mother's day actually since I don't really celebrate those holidays. I think you'll have your little blessing before you know it!
