Insensitive and incompetent Doctors

Hi Ladies.

I just need to Vent, im about 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Confimed by two HPT with very dark lines last week, morning sickness no Af and sore boobs and huge nipples.

So i made an appointment with our local docs clinic, and as we only just moved here we don't have a doctor we see in particular. And we live in a rural costal town the Docs are small.

Any way we went in this morning to have the Doctor know all about my previous miscarriages one being last cycle to go on and say "IF you are pregnant", WHY did you insist on testing so early?" "IF the Blood work is positive"

My DH was almost expecting to hear her ask "are you keeping it" because she was so rude. She even told us not to come back to her because she has no experience. WTF. She spoke to us like children, we do look young but geez.

This was not really what we were wanting to hear.

Its not really what you want to hear when you are frightened of Miscarriage.

RANT OVER :)

Wow, I'm so sorry you had to put up with that mess. I hope you can find a REAL doctor soon. I'm so happy for your BFP, I saw the pics of the test and they are.....beautiful! Haha, congrats and best of luck!

Oh thank you Gotthefever,

We could help but laugh her off, it was that bad.

Apparently the other doctor is a specialist in babies etc. so we are eager to seem him after we get the results of the blood work tomorrow.
Can they tell how far you are by HCG levels?

Hello

In my experience doctors are insensitive and unpleasant when they haven't a clue.

She went to medical school so if she doesn't know about pregnancy then I would trust her with nothing!

I have seen tables relating to hcg levels but I from what I have read it isn't really relied upon to estimate how pregnant you are - they just look for the doubling over 48 hours. They might be able to give you an estimate but you probably know best yourself anyway.

How nice of her to tell you straight out that she is an incompetant idiot...at least you do not have to waste any more time on her!! My first appointment I had an OB nurse---she was such an idiot, my husband and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes. She told us that if I started to bleed any time within the first 12 weeks, just to deal with and call and let them know that I miscarried. Sound advice for a newly pregnant couple!! She also said that I should avoid any exercises that strengthen my abdominals because it would prevent them from expanding properly. WHAT????? Where do these poeple get their licenses to practice medicine on people?? I wouldn't even take my cat to some of these quacks! Can you find a midwife maybe or at least a doula in your area that can help you or point you in the right direction? I hope you have better luck!

Wow what a complete idiot!
I just don't understand even if these doctors have no idea what advice to give do they seriously think that the advice they do give is in anyway accurate, why wouldn't they just let you know I'm an idiot don't see me for your pregnancy issues!!

I sure hope you reported her to the AMA. Doctors took the hippocratic oath, they should know better. Lastly you are the reason they have an income. Don't be afraid to ask questions. And don't be afraid to say something like: if your not happy with your career then i suggest you find a new one because you will be hearing from the AMA soon in regards to your license.
