37 yo TTC # 1 and looking for buddies...

Hi,

I am 37 years old and DH is 39. I am on CD 2 today. DH already has 2 from and previous marriage and I have always wanted to have 1 of my own, but waited for my Mr. Right. We got married 3 years ago on Memorial Day weekend. We have been trying now for over over a year. Back in Nov 2013 we went to see a Fertility Specialist that was very blunt but from what I understand is very good in his field. He made it very clear that my age a weight could be a factor but that it's still possible. DH had a SA done 5 months ago and they found an infection which caused low count and low motility. So he and I were both on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Had another SA done and it was all cleared up and his count normal. I have had an HSG done and all was clear 3 months ago. Doctor gave us 3 months to try on our own...sadly I am still not getting pregnant. So, Monday I go in for a Laparoscopy and I am so nervous. Praying the doc finds something and can fix whatever it is he finds. What I am mostly nervous about is that they don't find anything wrong.

Starting to feel alone in this journey...anyone else going through the same thing?

NorthernBabyDream: I hope all goes well for you this month. Sounds like you have a crazy week coming up but glad you have found a way to still DTD without having to actually DTD...lol. I hope it takes for you soon.

I have been putting together a To Do List for the weekend to prepare myself for the surgery. So far it looks like it's still a go.

Is your DH a pilot?

Well, it didn't work out exactly as planned, lol. There was a hold up with the bloodwork so DH couldn't do the collection before he left. So, now I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that O holds off til he gets back. I ended up only taking clomid since it's not worth taking the injectible drug if this cycle ends up being a bust.

Good luck with your surgery - I hope you get some answers!

Oh, and no, DH is not a pilot. He just had a trip planned to go help a friend this week. But he does have an out of town job and has to fly out for 3 weeks at a time for the next year.

Hi ladies!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend & holiday!

NorthernBabyDream: I am sorry thing didn't go quite as planned. I hope for your sake ovulation doesn't happen till DH gets home. :)

I am home now. Been in an in & out doze. The pain pills are definitely helping. Have a headache though. And can't stop the thirst. Turns out I had mild endometriosis. He zapped it all and says it went well. He told DH that from the amount of endo I had we had a 50/50 chance of getting pregnant. But now it has been raised to 80% chance. :) I see him in 4 weeks, unless there are complications. We were getting ready to leave and had to stay a bit longer because I calf pain and they wanted to check with the doc to make sure it wasn't a blood clot forming. Was told to start the baby aspirin right away and apply heat when I got home.

I will write more later. Very tired.

Have a great day!

Lolo, anesthesia is so hard on the body. Hope you feel better soon. Well, that's some good news about the endo. Hopefully that does the trick! Question for you - did you have any idea that you might have endometriosis before the surgery, or any symptoms of it?

Hi!

Sorry I haven't been writing much. Finally on the laptop so it's easier for me to type...lol.

NorthernBabyDream: The anesthesia really is so hard on the body...lol. To answer your question, did I have any idea that I might have endometriosis before the surgery, or any symptoms of it?...not really. I just wonder if I have had mild endo my whole life or is this something that just happens over time? The only thing that comes to mind is...I used to have terrible cramps as a teenager, then I was on the pill for years which definitely helped with the cramps...still got cramps but no where near as bad. Then when I was taken off the pill I would have some terrible PMS cramps the first full day of AF on most months. Here I thought those cramps were always normal...lol. Just makes me wonder.

Today, I am feeling sore, achy and I think even a tad constipated. However that might just be cramps from the work they did too. But thankfully I have mostly had some back ache if I over do it even a tad bit, but no shoulder pain and I think the doc did pretty well at removing a lot of the gas. So FX'd I have a quick recovery. I am also fighting a sore throat but I know that is from the breathing tube. The endo they found was behind my uterus and on my left ovary. Apparently my cervix was tight as well and so he had to dilate it. But besides that all went very well...only 2 incisions! I can resume BD'ing in 4 days as long as my belly doesn't hurt. And thankfully even now it doesn't...granted it could be the painkillers helping with that a lot...lol. So FX'd I don't get a +OPK until this weekend so we can resume TTC this month. My hubby said that the doc told us that he wants us to try on our own for 3 months and then the next step is IUI. He also told him that insurance doesn't typically cover IUI so we will have to see how much it will cost. It may be something that we will have to just keep trying on our own. But the doctor said that we our now at the typical normal chance that most couples are at which I guess is 80%. So FX'd it happens for us sooner rather than later.

Well, I am getting tired and sore again...lol...my MIL called and we chatted for about an hour and a half...lol. I love that we get along so well...but now I just want to get back to my electric blanket and heating pad...lol.

Have a great rest of the week and I will try to get on again when I can.

Hi,

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been pretty out of it this weekend. Not feeling all that great. The few days after the surgery I was feeling pretty good for the most part then this weekend I don't know. Just haven't been feeling that great...weak, tired and OMG Saturday night I had the worst bowel pain...I think mostly from constipation which did turn into diarrhea. I was in and out of the bathroom for 3 hours that night. Even today, I still feel tender. But I did make it in to work today...just wish I still had a few more days off...don't really feel like it was enough time to rest. But my incision is looking pretty good and so I feel like staying home was asking for too much. However I might be going home early. We are supposed to have some more storms today and that may be why I don't feel all that well.

I did get my +OPK yesterday and DH and I did BD last night. I wasn't sure I was going to be in the mood and part of me wasn't. But another part of me was thinking I didn't want to be completely out this month and since I got the +OPK on Sunday and the doctor told us to hold off for only 4 days I figured it was safe. Didn't hurt either so I take that as a good sign. Besides I was praying I wouldn't get my +OPK until Sunday as well, and my prayers were answered.

I have been pretty bad with temping. I tried to vaginal temp as well as oral before surgery to see a difference with the oral temps. There is a difference. Just not sure if I care that much. I may continue my experiment but we'll see. It was a nice break from temping and I may just say I am done with temping. I am also not so sure if I trust my temp from this morning. My cat startled DH & I this morning, about an hour before I was to temp. She knocked off a bunch of my stuff on my bedside dresser... ...not really sure what freaked her out but she definitely freaked us out.

NorthernBabyDream: How are you doing? Were you able to get any BD'ing done? Which CD are you at?

How about anyone else? How is everybody doing?

OK well, back to work for me. Hope I can make it through the rest of the day but my arms and hands (mostly on the right side) just feel funky...almost a bit numb feeling, but weak feeling too...that's probably all it is is weak. I did call into the doctors office and thankfully they said it's normal. It's from all the gas they pumped in me I am starting to get the feeling back and that can cause some numbing feeling. She suggested I take GasX to help with that. I did buy some but it's at home...typical. I will definitely plan to take it when I get home...that's for sure. She also suggested some heat and to make sure I get up and move around. I am just feeling so tired today too. First day being up and moving around, I guess that is to be expected. I will definitely plan to go home and take it easy this evening though. On a even brighter note...I finally was able to put on my wedding rings...I couldn't even put it on yesterday.

Well, I am home again today. I over did it yesterday at work and as soon as I got in my car I went home in tears. I really didn't think sitting at my desk and running a couple errands and doing some light filing would be considered over doing it...but I guess it was. I know this surgery was necessary I just wasn't expecting it to be this long of a recovery either...granted it has only been a week...maybe because it was a long weekend before the surgery it just feels like this recovery has been longer. I had feet surgery 7 years ago and that recovery took a few weeks but that was also on my feet, kinda hard for walking...lol. I figured this would just be different. My gut is having a hard time adjusting to foods or something. I love pizza and had that for lunch yesterday and ended up in the bathroom with that constipation feeling again. I'm starting back up on my Probiotics again...in hopes that will help...starting to wish I thought to start that up from the beginning. Just feeling down today and bummed. I really didn't want to miss too much work this month. But my work is an hour away and trying to get home when in pain is not easy. I had to stop at my parents half way home only because I couldn't handle the drive home and had to use their bathroom...really glad that they live half way.

I'm also bummed because I was hoping I could get another BD session out of my DH today but he was tired this morning and he never gets up early enough before work. I think he is also concerned about my health at the moment. I don't blame him...me too. I just hope that that one session Sunday evening was enough. But at this point I am just not feeling well enough to care.

So sorry you're having a rough time recovering, Lolo. Hang in there. Maybe it's for the best you only got one BD in...you need to take the time to fully recover anyhow. I think as we get older, surgery is harder on our bodies too (well, everything is, lol). I hope you can take it easy at work. Your commute sounds brutal. Mine used to be an hour too (on a good day) and I hated it so much!

Probiotics is a good idea. And if you have a juicer or blender, fresh raw fruit and veggie drinks would be good too - easy for you to digest.

Oh and interesting that you were comparing oral and vaginal temping. My acupuncturist wanted me to switch to vaginal since she said it is much more accurate, but I just think that it would be suck a pain to do that I probably wouldn't stick with it. I have such an easy system with the oral. I have a Ladycomp machine that I used for preventing pregnancy for years and I am so used to it. It takes your oral temp and records it so you don't even have to really wake up or even open your eyes.

AFM, I really thought this cycle was going to be a bust, but it managed to work out well. My DH was only here for 2 1/2 days, and amazingly, the IUI fell smack in the middle of those days. So, we managed to get a BD in the night he got home, did the IUI the next day, and BD again the following day. And all this with a houseguest also staying here, who doesn't have a clue we are even trying. It was a bit of a gong show, but pretty funny now that it's all over!

I had two good sized follicles (were so painful) and lots of EWCM this time. The clinic said I surged really well on my own too so I didn't even need a trigger shot.

Thanks NorthernBabyDream! I thought I was doing pretty well last week. Just didn't think that I would now be feeling this awful. But you are right the older we get the harder things seem to be on our bodies. I was reading up on the recovery for this typed of surgery and so far it seems like what I am going through is normal. That and the post-op blues. Which I also think I am feeling a bit of. I do agree with the BD'ing part as well...that is why I did not push DH to try again. I don't want any complications with this recovery.

I am so glad to hear that things seem to have worked out with your DH! LOL! And kudos to doing it with a guest in the house as well...the only time I could do it when there were people in the house is when we were on vacation with my parents and thankfully the walls are pretty thick...or at least I hope they are...lol. If they weren't they never said anything.

this is your month!!!

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I am thankfully feeling much better. Wouldn't say 100% but am feeling better.

Not looking forward to AF showing up though. The doctor said that this AF and even possibly the next could be very painful. I she doesn't show up.
