Septated Uterus & PCOS

My husband and I have been ttc since April and I have had so many ups and downs with my cycle after discontinuing the pill. I finally went to a specialist today who I thought would just tell me we'd have to try for a year before doing anything about it. She did some bloodwork and an ultrasound and saw that I had a septated uterus and PCOS. I had a first US done this summer and they didn't say anything about either of those two things! So she gave me the option of starting clomid right away or getting the septum repaired and then trying clomid. What is your guys' experience with this matter? My deductible is paid for so if I were to do the repair I would have to get it done very soon! I know it doesn't guarantee me to never have a miscarriage but I know how heartbroken and disappointed I would be with myself if that were to happen after deciding to leave it be. Please feel free to share your thoughts, feelings, experiences! My ears are wide open!

Hi gem_208.
My husband and I have also been TTC since April 2013, with my cycles all over the place since coming off the pill my 6th cycle just ended at 78 days!!!! CRAZY and near drove me insane, I had HCG bloods done thinking we may have succeeded only to be told it was negative, very heartbreaking :( I am starting to get worried that I too may have PCOS as I had irregular cycles before going on the pill, but never that long! Since coming off the pill my cycles have been as following:
Cycle#1 - 32 days
Cycle#2 - 37 days
Cycle#3 - 48 days
Cycle#4 - 26 days (suspected miscarriage from previous cycle as had funny things going on TMI, never had a normal AF since this happened).
Cycle#5 - 42 days
Cycle#6 - 78 days!! (Just ended 31 December 2013). We have no idea what is going on, I am going to book an appointment with another doctor tomorrow for a second opnion. It is very disheartning seeing everyone around falling pregnant (atleast half a dozen ladies in my church, even harder when they ask when is it your turn and they don't know what is going on in your life:| ).
My first Doctor has given me until April before starting fertility testing, she said normally they wait until you have been off the pill for 18 months but she is not going to make me wait that long. But I would still like a second opnion as to why my cycles are everywhere. I wish you all the best in your TTC journey and may we both get our BFP soon!! You can add me as a friend if you would like.

Hi there,
Wow, that is a long cycle! Surprisingly, I have had fairly normal length cycles so that is not always the main sign of PCOS. I have other symptoms of it and the ultrasounds showed "PCOS-ish" signs on my ovaries. If I were you, I would find a specialist to go to and explain your cycle problems. It may help to focus on that rather than talking about wanting to become pregnant (i've found out, personally). Maybe ask to have an ultrasound done to see if there are any abnormalities.
I know how you feel with other's comments and everyone else seeming to become pregnant. I have had a really, really hard time lately. I did have the surgery to repair the septum and have to wait a month to start trying again. In a way it's a nice break but at the same time I hate not knowing when it could be possible. I'm still debating on whether I want to start on Clomid once I'm all healed up again or not. There is so much to consider, it's very overwhelming! You just have to thank God for the blessings that you DO already have and pray for the ones that you hope for one day. Have a pity party every once in a while and get on with life soon after. It sucks, it really, really sucks. I'm so sorry you and I and everyone else have to go through this heartwrenching journey. Just keep thinking positive and counting your blessings.
Ps- i didn't even know you could add people on here. You are my only friend so far ;) haha
