Starting Fertility Exams - lets share our progress!

We are TTC almost 2 years without any result. I am 37 years old and we have just started a series of Fertility Exams, in order to see why BFP has not been shown yet. Recently I was diagnosed with a small fibroid of 2cm, about which my doctor told me not to worry, due to its position and size. I am waiting for the AF to come in order to do on the 3rd day the blood tests checking my hormones and thyroid and as soon as my AF stops to have HSG test (that scares me!). In the meanwhile we ll also have a sperm diagram.
This week I had my PAP test and a general blood test (I am waiting for the results)
I am now on DPO 6, again, as always, hoping for a BFP. I dont pay any attention to symptoms, as believe me, during TTC process I had them all!
I would be happy to see your responses and I would be happier to see more BFP announcements!!!!

MissCarolZ
What dose are they starting you out on Clomid and Ovidrel?
Did you start it yet?

Already started and IUI done!

I went on CD2 for an ultrasound to check antral follicles. AKA resting follicles. It's another way to check your egg reserve. I had total of 11.

Clomid was one 50mg tablet daily on CD3-7.

Went in for another ultrasound on CD12 to see how many follicles were maturing. There were two on my right, none on my left.

Doc told me to give myself the Ovidrel (which is a prefilled syringe containing 250 mcg of hCG) the evening of CD13.

On CD14 I had one more ultrasound to check those follicles again and immediately had the IUI.

Now I'm in the dreaded TWW. Fingers crossed!

MissCarolZ
I would love to hear your progress! I may look to try a similar path if this 2ww doesn't pan out.

How many follicles did they get/place?

An IUI is different from IVF. An IUI is simply taking washed sperm and injecting it straight into the uterine cavity. We used the Ovidrel to make me ovulate the two follilcles that matured. It's like a shortcut for the sperm. No vagina and no cervix to get through. We still bd'd two days before and the day after to give our chances a boost.

But since there were two eggs released, there's always a chance of multiples.

Now it's just a waiting game. And I seriously LOATHE waiting! Lol!

Hi girls!!!! Bleeding from HSG lasted for 4 days. 2-3 days after HSG I had terrible cramps, I called my doctor and she said that possibly is ovulation which was painful from the HSG. I missed the chance as I avoided any intercourse due to the bleeding.
All the exams showed that there is no problem! So why are we trying for two years without any success?
The doctor suggested to try for 2 months and then to try IUI.

kisses!!!!

MissCarolZ , did insurance cover your IUI? I just found out from my clinic that the meds for it is like 3k.

They said my insurance will cover meds for a non IUI (intercourse only) round but not for IUI.

kethryes, at least there's no problems in your "plumbing."
Has your husband been checked out as well? My hubs has been the problem all along in our case.

lwilliams1922, Holy Cow! 3k just for meds? Geez! My insurance covers fertility procedures 50/50 so the IUI was $130 out of pocket. The ultrasounds were considered standard diagnostics so they were covered 80/20. For those, it was about $38 out of my pocket.

Your doc must have you on more stimulation meds than mine had me take. I only took the generic Clomid (which cost me $5) and the trigger was Ovidrel ($30). Both were standard copays. It's the other ones like Follistim, Lupron, Gonal-F that really start costing some bank. Those are the ones I'm worried about for next year when we try IVF. For one of my co-workers, they billed the medical insurance for the Follistim and her copay was $200.
Is your insurance staying the same for next year?

Hi everyone. We have been trying for almost a year now and no luck. We know most of it has to do with my husbands counts are so low. Our insurance doesn't cover hardly anything. So we are trying to figure out what our next course is. There is either IVF or a Sperm donor. the donor sounds odd to me but it is the least expensive of the 2 options. Does anyone know if there is any programs for helping out with the cost?[unsure]
