Spotting red or brown

But is it only a few spots here and there? I have had a dark brown discharge like clumps coming out?

hmm maybe it is the implantation spotting that is mixing with your cm causing it to become thick??. How many dpo are you?

Well, you should take a HPT since you are 17dpo. you should get a reliable result. I am not so sure this could be implantation though, as it happens typically around 5-12 days after conception. Good Luck :)
