Hi Ladies, Just thought I'd pop in to check on everyone and mention something my RE suggested to us. We tried several IUIs and were thinking about moving to IVF, but weren't getting good ovary response with meds thus far. We tried clomid, femera, Menopur, and several down regulation drugs (my follicles developed much too quickly). So my RE mentioned that the IVF drugs were the same as those for IUI (or could be), so he suggested that we work out the kinks in getting a good ovary response before switching to IVF. Mostly because my insurance covered 50% IUI costs including drugs, but those same drugs would be twice as expensive if we were in an IVF cycle (0% IVF or drug coverage). So get the best ovary response you possibly can and figure out which drug protocols work best for you before the costs go up. Plus, if you have crappy follicles due to a bad ovary response then the chances of IVF working go way down, so we'd be spending more on drugs and WAY more on IVF and still not have great odds. I wasn't looking forward to that heartache. So we planned an IVF-like drug cycle but with IUI at the end instead of IVF. We might have done that several times before we felt like we had the best protocol for me, but ended up getting pregnant the first round of IVF-like protocol. Just my experience, but you might want to ask your REs if you can do a couple of practice cycles on IFV-like protocols just to work out what the best protocol is for your ovaries. For me, it was cheaper that way and I can't argue with the results.
As always, good luck ladies! I'm rooting for you!!

Thanks for explaining ladies! Hopefully the IUI will work but if not I may have to ask him about injections. But not sure if the distance is an issue for that type of treatment.
Txkadams- that is interesting. I may also bring this thought up to him as well. He wants to be a little more aggressive with me due to my diminished ovarian reserve. But hopefully I am growing some nice eggs and will only need this 1 IUI that we will be doing within the next week.

Okay guys - here's a question. Is there a reason to do consecutive IUI cycles Vs. doing like one IUI and one TTC naturally, and spread that out over six months instead of just doing three IUIs in a row? I'm a little nervous about the medical stuff and I wonder if it is better on the body to not be doing that medication multiple cycles in a row? Or would it be better to do it in a row and be done with it as opposed to a cycle break in between?
That's my crazy thought - i have been able to get pregnant on my own in the past, so I was wondering if we should spread them out?
Has anyone had issued with over stimulation from the trigger shot?
I realize this is kind of a paranoia post. It is what it is. lol.

Whileamwaiting, my doctor told me that iui should be the one after the other so to increase the chances.
I am on cd 13, having completed my clomid treatment which produced 3 follicles. Today i have another scan to see when we ll have the iui. My doctor is very optimistic! I am trying to be too!
