Hello everyone!

It is really exciting to have a growing group of older ttc mamas. I am pulling for each and every one of you.

I will be seeing my husband in a few days and then bd begins. O starts in 7 days.

It sounds like we have some hpt results to look forward to over the next week. Baby dust, mama!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah... I think I'm in love!!

I'm 38, TTC #2... my DD is 21 months and becoming a little handful

I've been TTC for almost a year now, and had two mc's in 2011 (in retrospect, might have been three -- 1 missed mc and 2 chemicals). C'est la vie.

I gave up stressing, obssessing, tracking and all that madness after the chemical in December, just upped my vitamin regimen in addition to trying to eat healthy, exercise (when I can), and BD during my fertile week. I'm currently CD17 (I'm not even sure when I O'd) and waiting out the rest of the month.

Glad to be acquainted with you lovely ladies!!!

to all!!

Hi there I am 41 and ttc my 4th baby. I have 3 children from my previous relationship which I had in my 20s...no problems at all with 3 healthy children (or should I say teenagers). I am in a new relationship and we are trying to have a baby.

We discussed it a year ago and thought we would try for a year and see how we go. We do not qualify for fertility treatment due to our age, and we dont have insurance for it (our system here is based on free public health so insurance is not common) so we are flying naturally with b6 and folic acid. I thought it would be a challenge to get pregnant...I was wrong...I have been pregnant 4 times since then, 2 chemicals, 1 missed miscarriage and now I am pregnant with what looks like a blighted ovum....
We have seen a fertility specialist and we are waiting for blood and semen results.

As far as this pregnancy is concerned, a scan at 6weeks showed a sac of 5 weeks and empty, another scan at 7 weeks showed an empty sac again, and only 8mm. I went to the hospital to the early pregnancy clinic expecting a discussion on D&C or medical management...but no! We needed another scan and once again it is empty but growing every so slightly. My betaas are not good but havnt as yet fallen (although we havent checked for a week now) I have pretty much given up, my symptoms have reduced significantly, but the doctor (bless her) said it is still too early to give up, so we are waiting till friday (7 days away) to scan again with another beta.

Its a very strange feeling I have at the moment...I am no longer terrified of loosing this baby so there is some peace in that, previously i was almost crippled with the anxiety and fear of another miscarriage.

I believe that if I can keep trying I will get a healthy baby, and certainly that is what the fertility specialist feels too..thie thing is how many miscarriages can i cope with. So far I am not ready to give up on trying.

So thats my story, I am glad to find a thread with some mums of our vintage...go the 70s! Good luck everyone with a 2012 baby.

Go 70s!!!

@ttc@41 - I'm glad that you are at peace with what is going on... and that your doctor is so optimistic! What you said about 'getting pregnant' reminds me of what my doctor told me -- oookay, so we know you CAN get pregnant, the problem we need to address is STAYING pregnant. Then she told me to start taking baby aspirin every day and wrote me a prescription for progesterone to use WHEN I fall pregnant again. Anywhoo...I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Go 70's...you're in my mind too! We're here for you..

I sure like seeing this group! :) It's so nice to know that there are so many of us mirroring each other! Mine two is a second relationship - and he has no kids and I really hope I can do this for us! There is nothing better in the world that I've ever done, than raise my children! Most important job in the world!

My fingers are crosssed...let's see some successes so we are inspired! :)

Baby dust and sticky vibes...

Destinystarr, forgive my rudeness earlier in not welcoming you. Go 70s!

The real value I see in this group is getting to share information specific to this age and stage of our lives and ttc.

As hopefulat40 says, yeah, new relationships with (step)papas who have no kiddie of their own. Dealing with teens, tweens and ttc! And hopefully baby. I think one or two of us even have partially or fully empty nests! Active, working mamas.

Wow.

I am humbled and thrilled about this vibrant repository of knowledge we're concentrating here.

Now I know to redouble my efforts to locate a fertility or endocrinology expert in both US and overseas, where I spend a lot of time, to ensure that any bloodwork or meds that I might need happens. I haven't had any blood work and don't think I have a problem getting pregnant, we just have to make viable embryos and then stay pregnant as the next step.

Ttc@41, thank you for teaching me that a BFP can mean so many different things. Despite all that, I am really optimistic for all of us. Especially since we've had kids before.

I am trying to stay compliant on exercise, primarily to increase my flexibility, stamina and lung capacity.I've been at desk for years now and feel so stiff sometimes. I think my physical fitness is my biggest pregnancy concern aside from ttc!

Well, I should get back to bed. I just wanted to chime in.

I mean, yeah: STAYING pregnant,

What a great thread!

I hope that I havent been a wet rag with the miscarriages but it is a reality at our age. I know someone though who has had 4 miscarriages and is now 20 weeks along with a normal and healthy pregnnacy, she is my inspiration.

Mountain: I wish I had had some investigation before we started so we knew what we were dealing with. I am waiting on an AMH which should tell me what my egg reserve or potential is. I have been advised that asprin and progesterone are only helpful in the presence of a specific problem, but I still took the progesterone although not until later on. Blah blah research indicates blah blah...The next cycle I will take it from BFP, its not harmful and I read some research that at our age the hormones can be a bit unbalanced so it may infact help????

hopeful: I loved mothering and so want to share that with my partner.

to everyone else thank you for the kind words and good wishes i hope there is a miracle but I really think its back to the tww...eventually.

I am really excited to see some BFPs from this group soon...
