Good afternoon! TTC for 1+ year, husband and I tested OK for all preliminary issues, though I think I have a luteal phase issue. Doc prescribed me clomid and progesterone this cycle. We had the option of the IUI but want to try just the clomid first.
Had night sweats and increased hunger (in the morning especially) first 3 days of clomid, then it seemed to be fine.
Tomorrow I start OPKs and progesterone per doc's orders. Progesterone should be taken at night, right? What can I expect from that? The paperwork from the pharmacy is somewhat scary.
Oh - also - what's the trigger shot many of you mention? I'm not familiar with it.

It def helped the last time and I had a great big follie in my following US. So fxd its what we need to continue on. Its hard to believe that i will be starting my 6th cycle with all of this. cbrown welcome! I hope the Clomid helps you with O-ing every month. And let's hope you are lucky and don't need the IUI!
Darian, yay! Good luck with the trigger! Let's see some twins from those double follicles!
ssurra welcome! Clomid can be uncomfortable! It sounds like you're feeling it a little bit! I'm glad the symptoms went away, though. As for your progesterone, what kind are you taking? I'm not familiar with the progesterone that is started before ovulation. I've always heard it being started after. I take mine as a vaginal suppository, which is quite messy and leaks all over, causing me to need to wear a pad to bed. Usually it's taken at night, but again, that depends on what kind you're taking. It also has a possibility of causing symptoms like pregnancy, which can be frustrating and quite annoying. Cramps, nausea, headaches, bloating, backache, sore nipples, you name it. So don't be too worried if you feel those really early on. As for the trigger, it's a shot of HCG, which is the pregnancy hormone. It makes the body release the eggs that are in the mature follicles, so it induces ovulation. The tricky part with those is that they show up positive on a pregnancy test for a while! So a lot of women test until they see the tests go negative to see when it's out of their system.
MrsMullen, hi! It's good to hear from you! Sorry about the rest cycle, that sucks :( Good luck with your ultrasound next Tuesday!
AFM I gave myself my Bravelle shot today. I was running late so I had to do it at work! Quite embarrassing mixing the hormone and sticking it in my belly in front of my students (I'm a substitute teacher, so it's even more embarrassing because they were probably like, "Who is this strange lady and why is she doing drugs in front of us?" Ha!) I just have a brag a bit because that was my first time giving a shot to anyone ever, and I did it better than the nurse at my RE's office! She made it hurt a lot and left a big bruise. I'm happy to report that it didn't hurt after taking the needle out, and there is no bruise!
I go on Thursday in for my CD12 ultrasound to do a follicle check! I'm hoping that there are two beautiful follicles (the goal this month, which is why we added Bravelle to my Clomid), and that they are ready for trigger, then IUI on Friday!

Hi Lades,
AF arrived, so two cycles of 50mg Clomid have failed. Have an appointment with Doc. on the 13th of this month to see what to do next or put me on higher dosage of Clomid as I was only prescribed two months.
AF was heavier and clotted and lasted longer than usual, so don't know what was going on.
Feeling very disappointed.

felurian, thank you so much for the detailed response!
I admit, my experience with Clomid (so far) wasn't too bad. I am nervous about this progesterone. I'm taking an 100mg oral dose of generic progesterone (label describes it as a substitute for prometrium), starting tonight.
Directions say 1 tablet per day starting day 12 of cycle for two weeks. My doc actually said if I get pregnant to keep taking it until she says otherwise, but I know I'll call and check on that first. She provided me a 30-day supply.
What is the best time of day to take an OPK? I've done them before, but never been too consistent about it. This time I'd like to be. Any thoughts?
