Is this true??

Is it true an ovulation test can detect pregnancy? If so... how does that work??

It can, but not before a hpt will. LH and hCG alpha subunits are identical, but the hCG beta subunit is different from the LH beta subunit. An opk will pick up both of these hormones becuz it looks for alpha & beta units but a hpt will only pick up the extra amino acids bound to the hCG beta unit. Think of it as identical twins, but one has a hat. The hpt will seek out ONLY the hat, the opk just looks for a twin, hat or not. Its really not recommended to use an opk as a hpt, as u always have LH in ur system at varying degrees and can surge at any point after u have already O'd...esp before AF arrives. Not very reliable and not worth the heartache.
