It could be completely normal, but if you're like me, only a doctor will make you feel better. The morning of 12dpo, I got my first bfp on a frer. That night I had severe back pain and a gush of bright red blood (clots and all). I was heartbroken, and due to the pain, went to the ER. They confirmed my hcg was 74, gave me some painkillers, and sent me home to see my fertility doctor the next day.

When I finally got a chance to talk to the fertility nurse, she said what I had experienced was common and not to be alarmed if it happens again (which it has, twice).

Well, long story short, that bfp has me currently almost 9 weeks with twins, and they're doing just fine! I wish you all the best of luck! :)

Even if fertilization occurred, at 5dpo, the embryo would just be arriving in the uterus. According to my fertility doctor, implantation happens sometimes between days 6-12dpo, and it takes time after that for hcg to build up. Speaking from experience, what you're currently feeling is most likely hormone or medication induced, not caused by the baby. I've had cycles where I had all the "classic" symptom and ended up with a bfn. With my current pregnancy, I didn't feel anything until about 5 weeks, when morning sickness hit me like a semi truck.

There's always a chance of pregnancy. The best thing to do is wait a week or so, then take a hpt. Good Luck! :)

To this day, the one thing I wished I had known about at the beginning of my fertility "adventure" is diagnostic testing for issues that could affect my ability to not only get, but stay, pregnant. In my case, I got pregnant our first time using ivf and a frozen embryo transfer. Unfortunately, we lost that pregnancy very early on. After the miscarriage, my doctor recommended testing for a genetic mutation and clotting factors. As it turns out, I came back positive for something called the mthfr mutation. It is a fairly common mutation that can cause you to miscarry by creating clots in the placenta. It also affects your body's ability to process folic acid. Our doctor believes this may be what caused our first miscarriage. Now, on our second try, they prescribed me baby aspirin and blood thinners. As of today, I'm almost 9 weeks with twins, who are perfect in both size and heartbeats.

I had a similar experience around 7dp5dt (12dpo). I had just gotten my first bfp that morning, and by the afternoon I had severe back pain and bright red bleeding, clots and all. My doctor said that it's common to bleed, even bright red blood, so long as it doesn't last more than 24 hours. In my case, it stopped after about 12 hours. As of today, that bfp has me almost 9 weeks pregnant with twins, and they're doing great! So hang in there, and if you're concerned, definitely talk to your doctor. :)

I don't know how much stock I put into dreams as a sign of pregnancy, but I will admit that it was dreams about positive pregnancy tests that caused me to test a couple days early on my last pregnancy. Sadly, I miscarried on Mother's Day, but vivid dreams have come and gone the entire time. Sometimes I think I had those dreams because the pregnancy and loss were on my mind...A LOT.

As for whether or not you're currently pregnant, we both know that the only way to figure it out is to test. ;) Here's hoping that you get your "dream come true." :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I understand the frustration of having to wait for the hcg to fall (I had a miscarriage on Mother's Day, about 4 weeks after bfp). I asked my doctor the exact same question about natural ways to get your hcg to fall. The only thing he said was that the bleeding I was experiencing at the time helps, presumably because I was shedding the placenta tissue that was putting the hcg into my system. Now, I have read that some people say drinking lots of water and exercising helps you flush the hcg out of your system, but I haven't seen any evidence from medical experts to support that (not saying it's not out there, just haven't seen it.)

Anyways, sorry I don't have a better answer for you. Prayers that your body adjusts quickly and that you find peace during the horrible wait.

I miscarried on Mother's Day, and based on the timing, the first thing I thought was that our BD caused it. My RE said, as well as my family doctor, that there was no way our activity could've caused the miscarriage. Hope this helps.
