Goodmorning everyone,
I just want to add support to the idea of taking control and responsiblity of your own care. I live in NZ and we have a fabulous maternity system here. It is midwifery lead, so the midwife cares for pregnant women who have no risk factors, and the obstetrician becomes involved where there is risk identified. The rationale is that women are the centre of care and care is provided with the cornerstone of informed choice and consent. We have fabulous outcomes for mothers and babies with 80% or more women having a midwife leading their care. I felt in control of my last two miscarriages as the choices were given to me, I chose what was right for me, not told this is what will happen.
I really believe in my heart that the doctors no matter how rude or dismissive they can be really believe their plan is the best for everyone, its just so sad that underneath that plan is a woman fighting desperately to be heard.
ANYWAY......I am officially in the tww had a positive OPK yesterday with ovulation happening overnight I guess (I only use OPK as I have irratic hours with work). I get lots of pain with my endometriosis during ovulation (and mensturation) followed exactly 14 days later with AF. So here we go again, I wonder how long before I test again?
Good luck sisters, wonder who will be the ones this month with BFPs?????

morning ladies! hope all is well!
Totally off the ttc topic (but I figured we could use a change from "doctors") Looking for ideas to entertain my 3yr old dd this weekend. Daddy has a gig so it's just toodles & me! Saturdays are usually my mommy time out so I'm looking for something cheap & entertaining for both of us out of the norm (malls & such). Thought about a movie but I think that's too close to TV....anyway, just brainstorming. It's looking to be cool & rainy here in good ol' Chi-town and I'm having a case of SAHM-mushbrain!
AFM: 4 (or 5)dpo, not feeling much. Ovulation sx seem to have faded. I hate this point of the wait, too soon to really feel anything but I still start to worry if I'm already out! Sheesh!

Hi Ladies, I haven't been on here for a few weeks. First of all I want to say how sorry I am to the ones who have lost because I know that feeling all too well. I have had 3 miscarriages in the past years and had a chemical in November then had my doc do a hysteroscopy to check for any fertility problems which none were found except for a couple of cycsts that they drained. He told me that everything looked really good and that I should be able to conceive with no problems but that if I didn't become pregnant by April that he would prob put me on a low dose of clomid. I am really hoping to do it naturally but if that is what it is going to take then I am desperate to try anything. Right now I am about 4 dpo but I don't think it happened for us again because as usual, I started cramping at 2 dpo and it hasn't let up. Usually once I get cramps, they don't stop until Af arrives. Has anyone ever had cramps right after they ovulate only to get a bfp? This is something I have been wondering about a lot. My doc appt is on this Monday and I will only be 6 dpo so won't know if i am preggo or not by then. I'm wondering what my doctor will want to do. Anyway, Good luck to all us ladies 38 and over ttc. I will update as soon as I know something, but like I said, with this cramping, I don't think it happened again.

it is consoling to be in a place where others understand all the pain and devastation of mc and the worst evil is missed mc when everything is looking great for you and doctors confirm it, then you coming happy and excited for 11 week nt scan - and
now dealing with getting cycle back to normal
I think I found an explanation for my weird cycle: super light, more like spotting 2 days af and high temps (which started to drop). hCG were going down very fast in my body and looks like progesterone was not able to keep up and stay high, that's why my body was gearing towards af but high prog interfered and kept temps high. I saw just a tint of brownish smear on a tissue, I think I might have another, this time real af soon. Also I will call doc office on Mn ask more exact answer for my last test ("single digits" I was told, I want that number, and request another test to know for sure if my hcg are zero or not )

Hey esperenza,
The bhcg is considered non pregnant if it is less than 5. The fact that it is now in single digits is very good.
The hardest thing about TTC and then a miscarriage at our age is fighting the time. I was so desperate to be pregnant again but it was not meant to be. I had a strange very light period 2 weeks after my D&C ( i use a mooncup and it was 15mls over 2 days) with the next one normal for me (about 20-30mls). Remember once you get a normal AF then you have a good baseline. After this last miscarriage which came on its own, I had a normal period. I think it is normal for your body to do some wierd things after a miscarriage even more so after a D&C, hormones need to reset and get back to normal, and despite our age the body needs the time to recover and you will be pregnant again when it is ready. The advice I got from my fertility specialist was keep trying, when your body is right it will happen again.
thinking of you all, fingers crossed for the BFPS

I'm in the waiting limbo too Esperenza. And I agree with how heartbreaking it is to think everything's going fine with the pregnancy you fought so hard to get and then at the ultrasound it's a complete 180 in your emotions. I went in smiling, expecting to see a little bean with a beating heart and came out crying knowing that although that little heart was beating it was going to have to be so cruelly ripped away because it implanted in my tube. I imagine expecting to see a heart beat and having one not be there is just a devastating. :(
My hcg is dropping very slowly. I overdid it with some housework yesterday, and I'm feeling it inside today. Not really painful, but very crampy just the same. At the rate my hcg is going it will be another 3 weeks before its gone. My Dr isn't going to test it anymore, so I just have to wait and use hpt's. I'm supposed to take it easy physically for another three weeks anyway, so I might as well just sit back, find my patient place and try to enjoy the break.

lisserb, that's even much worse than missed mc :(
I had three healthy pregnancies, three healthy terrific kids (BIG kids now), I never thought so many things might go wrong with pregnancy
Thank you ladies so much for your support and sharing,it does help
also nice to have dh back from the funeral trip (his grandma passed away). Since I ruled out the pregnancy I enjoyed going out and some vine
ttc is the only thing that sucks but in all other ways I do enjoy being my age

This may sound crazy, but I actually had a much more difficult time emotionally w/ my chemical pg....with my mc, I guess I kinda had a feeling the whole time that something was wrong. But I chalked it up to "every pregnancy is different" I was upset & sad of course but I knew there was a reason. The difficulty w/ that one was it never passed on it's own. I didn't want the d&c but after 2 weeks of waiting & scared to death to venture out of the house w/ my 2yr old for fear it would start happening in wal-mart of something!! the d&c was a welcome relief!
With the chemical I was pi**ed! I felt like we didn't try for this one so it must be "meant to be" and when it was gone, it felt like God had slapped me in the face! Telling me...old lady, give it up & stop the heart break! But lots of prayers, talks w/ DH, google-ing success stories have got me back in the game. If only for a few more months. My doc says it's ok, so here we are...
today is 6dpo, not feeling much except for some vague pressure/cramps, so vague I'm not sure they are there. and I *think* my sense of smell has picked up. Nothing I can really put a finger on and may just be because I'm looking for stuff. IDK, but at least I made it through the 1st week so now what I feel can be "real"!
Rj & ttc: so glad to have a cycle twins!!
Cheers ladies!

Hello 70's gals! :)
I've been working around the house today and realized that next week is O week! Woooo! Here's to success and lots of mad loving... :)
I heard a great quote today, thought I would share -
"I am not 40, I am 30 with 10 years experience!"
May you all keep your hearts light, find your peace, and know that you are supported! We can do this - the beauty of who we are comes from where we've been.
Thinking of everyone!
