What's the deal with these darn strips?

Hi there,

I'm newer to TTC, this is only our 2nd cycle where we actually kind of understand what we're doing (emphasis on kind of :-). This is the first cycle we've begun using ovulation tests. Here's the tea:

Yesterday, I felt like I was having ovulation cramps on my left side. I had what I believe is egg white CM but my ovulation test came back negative. This morning I took another test and it was the darkest one I've had to date but still not as dark as the control line. I'm really struggling to pinpoint my ovulation.

According to my Clue app, Im supposed to ovulate tomorrow but I'm not sure the app is in sync with my cycle. I'm trying to be thoughtful because my husband and I work pretty late and we're always exhausted. I won't want sex to b a chore but I want to make sure we're doing the BD when we need to.

Sheesh, this is tough :-/

Questions:
- Can you have an LH serge after you ovulate?
- Based on what I've described, would you say that I've:
A) Already ovulated,
B) Am currently ovulating or
C) Am about to ovulate?
