What tests are required before IVF?

Hi everyone,

I'm just wandering what tests (blood tests?) are required before you have IVF in the UK. I want to make sure I have recent bloods done by my GP as the last ones were a year ago. I'm curently under a fertility specialist and we think if my OH's sample comes back with low motility again in the next month that we are going for IVF.

If I think back I am sure FSH will need to be done on CD2. Testing for infectious diseases? What else?

Thank you in advance.

TTC #1 since August '13. 44th cycle started 8th January '17. Currently in the process of an IVF cycle. 9 eggs collected 23rd January '17. 1 egg fertilised and looking at putting this fighter back on 25th January '17. www.lifewithendosite.wordpress.com

Hi. If you've already had all your blood tests and semen analysis tests when you were referred to the fertility specialist, you shouldn't have to have them again - unless there was a huge gap or something. Once our second IVF was agreed, we were both sent downstairs in the hospital for a blood draw, which I assume is to check we didn't have HIV/ Hepatitis etc. I don't think you need to go to your GP for extras unless there is something you are concerned about (eg you want a full blood check because you suspect some kind of vitamin deficiency). Good luck!

5 years TTC. Endometriosis and adenomyosis. Surgery. 2 IVFs. No joy. Low ovarian reserve. Is there any real hope? DE IVF = next step. Much higher success rates, but so used to things not working, it's hard to feel too hopeful. Wishing others an easier time.
