Military or military Spouses try Clomid?

TTC for about a year and a half now (2 years if you include a deployment) and miscarried once when we first started trying--why can't we get prego again!? Anyways, I am military but since this is our first TTC wasn't sure what the process was to get fertility boosting drugs like Clomid? Any of you ladies in the military or spouses had trouble getting referrals to fertility specialists or know the process?

thanks!

Hi,
I just read your post and like you I am military and TTC while overseas. I think my situation because of location was a little different but I just met with the Obgyn last week. I have been trying for 1 1/2 yrs also and I have pcos! If I am not lucky this try (currently in my tww) I was instructed to call the obgyn, set up an appt and have a HSG Test (hysterosalpingogram). From there he will see if there are any issues and then prescribe the clomid. He also informed me that women on metformin do better than the clomid alone. If I were you I would check my symptoms and see if I can get checked for polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos) and see if that is an issue first. Then follow on clomid questioning. Much luck and keep us posted!

hello! I'm a military spouse stateside so I'll tell you what I had to go through.

So we are at Luke and this base has no OBGYNs on base. The womans clinic does the most basic stuff.

So I had to go to the woman's clinic and tell them I wasn't getting pregnant. The doctor did a PAP smear and a thyroid level test and that was all she could do really. She also sent me to have an ultra sound to check for PCOS. When all that stuff came back good to go. The next step was to wait for my referral to a civilian fertility doctor.

LUCKILY the doctor here gives military discounts because Tricare really wont pay for any of this kind of stuff. They will cover testing and thats it. You will have to pay out of pocket for clomid (I heard if you get generic it will be only $25-50 instead of like $200ish)

I'm on my eighth day of Provera to start my period but I will let you know how clomid goes.
