Adderall and trying to conceive

Hi all,

I have add and have been taking adderall for 6 years. My doctor told me to stop because I am trying to conceive. I have been trying for eight months now with no success. This is a long time to go without my medicine that makes me feel sane. Trying has made me feel incredibly insane. Are you taking your add medicine while trying? If not, any encouragement to help me stop taking it. I feel like I am quitting it for nothing since I am not getting pregnant.

I am not on Adderall but I am on Venlafaxine and Quetiapine for depression and BPD. My doctor also told me to come off my meds, I tried and tried but couldn't. It has been just over a year since that doctors appointment and my husband and I have now decided to TTC whilst i'm on my meds. I am seeing a specialist perinatal psychiatrist in a few weeks time to support me through my TTC/pregnancy journey whilst battling mental health problems. I am hopeful about this. Would it be possible for you to see a specialist in your area? It seems to me that GPs don't know enough about TTC and pregnancy in women with mental health problems so they just advise to come off medication. This however is not always the best thing to do.

Thanks for your advice. It does feel like Doctors don't understand. Talking to someone else may very well help.
