Question

HCG Serum test

Question, I am around 20 DPO and had my blood test today for HCG and on my portal it says HCG Serum- Positive (abnormal) and there is no count number. Anyone had this happen and what does it mean? Could they still be processing the sample? My pregnancy test is very dark so I dont think its low.

I ask in another forum and they said normal is negative and positive is abnormal just because its not normal to have a hcg. my doctor only ordered the ues and no test instead of the number. I called yesterday to check on my results and they didn't say there was any issues.

It means they did a qualitative test, versus a quantitative test. The qualitative will only result as positive/negative. The quantitative will actually give you your specific hcg numeric result. Sounds like they didn't order the correct lab test if you were expecting a numeric result.
