Celiac Disease?

So a lot has happened over the past few days. I've started a new job and had an interview for a second. I've also started having acupuncture and me and DH have had our first appointment with a fertility specialist.

Acupuncture: Hmmmm. I've had two sessions and both times I've been exhausted afterwards and developed a headache, so it obviously is having an effect. I don't like needles and I have now developed quite a dark bruise on my stomach where one of the needles was, which I also don't like. I don't think I'll be doing any more acupuncture for a while.

Fertility ob/gynae: I love her. She is a very amusing, forthright and kind doctor. She put my DH at ease as well. I had a scan which showed my ovaries are ok and I will ovulate soon- however my scan also showed that my colon is a bit dodgy and she has queried whether I may have Celiac Disease. She has referred me to a gastro doctor who will give me a gastro ultrasound today. I also have follow up blood work on the 20th.

Celiac Disease and conception/ pregnancy: Woah! I knew the basics about CD (my sister was diagnosed with it as a teenager) i.e. an allergy/intolerance to wheat /gluten but I had no idea of the devastating effect it can have on conception and pregnancy. At the mention of CD I was surprised as I had never noticed me having a reaction to any foods in particular, however I immediately adopted a gluten free diet. DH thinks I'm crazy "If they told you that drinking urine would get you pregnant then you'd do it" - but I don't think this is worth messing around with. If I do end up with a CD diagnosis then it will probably take a few months of a gluten free diet for my body to repair the CD damage- in which time getting pregnant will be riskier. So the sooner I start being gluten free, the sooner our baby dreams can be realised.
