Question

Multiple c-sections

Hello :]

I'm contemplating baby #4 - 2 vaginal birth, one planned c-section (for medical reasons). Baby #4 would also have to be planned c-section, because the medical issue still stands, not because of prior c-section...

Who has had multiple c-sections and how did you find them? I have always been very fortunate in my recoveries - I have remained slim, neat scar, no weird pooch or adhesions - which are always a risk...

I worry about re-cutting scar tissue - though that said, I had a 3rd degree tear with #1 and a 4th degree tear with #2 6 years later (hence the need for c-sections as if I ripped/tore again - which I would owing to so much scar tissue down there - I would be faecally incontinent due to lack of muscle, though thankfully, zero issues even after 2nd bad tear!)...

I am also a bit older, 30 - which isn't ancient, I know.. However, having had my first at 18 and my most recent at age 25 - I found each birth/recovery was progressively harder...

30 isn't a "bit older!" I had my first c section at almost 34 and my second at 36.5. I had no issues or complications with either one. As far as recovery, my second c section & recovery was easier & faster than the first. I needed very little pain management w/#2.

I know 30 isn't old, but 'it's a bit older' than 18 lol - which is when I had my first and walked out of hospital in a pair of size 8 jeans 12 hours later! Boy did I get a shock with #2 at age 24 when I still looked like I was 20 weeks pregnant, 2 months later! And #3 at 25 took a good 6 months for the swelling from surgery to go down! :]

Thanks for your response though :]

I'll be having my second c-section in 9 weeks (already scheduled) and I'm not too worried about it. I know many people who have had two or more c-sections and every one of them has said that recovery was easier from the second. I think the hardest part of my recovery is that I have a soon-to-be 2 year old daughter that will be frustrated when her baby brother arrives. I'm probably more concerned with her. Also, I think what may make it easier is that we know what to expect. Good luck:-)

If you're old, then I'm ancient! My first section was when I was 32 and I'll turn 35 a few days before my son is born;-)

My first section was awful, however my second was much easier. Planned c-sections usually go much better than emergency ones and my first was emergency. But I've heard most doc's don't like to do more than four sections, however I know moms who have had 6-8 and been fine, healed fine, etc. :)

I had my first emergancy section 19.11.04 my second was planned ( dr advice) on 24.01.06 an third also doctors advice on 20.06.07. I got pregnant again in 2012 an I really wanted to have it vaginally my midwife said that was fine and that the doctor shouldn't of advised me to have sections the other 2 times. Anyhoo I was due on the 13.02.13 an I did go into labour on tha exact day, unfortunately I didnt get passed 2cm an my internal scar tissue was tearing so I hae to have a 4th section. I had no problems with recovery after any of my sections x
